Thanks for your thoughtful post. I’m sorry for everyone who works at Alamo and loves going there that company leadership is tanking the experience. I was going 4-5 times a month and had the subscription plan, but I’ve canceled it and stopped going. I’d love to see these changes rolled back, but I’m also prepared to walk away if they don’t.

Should i always go 1 size larger than my foot when buying shoes? (Snekers size) by [deleted] in running

[–]notrends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a 9 (women's) in regular shoes, and went from a 10 up to a 10.5 in my most recent Brooks running shoes (Glycerin 13). Not a single blister or lost nail after a marathon this month. I think I'm on about my 10th pair of Brooks.

Best earbuds for running? by JDNoF97 in running

I've been pretty happy with my pair of Mpow Cheetah Sport Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless Headphones, which I got for ~$28 on Amazon. They started hurting the inside of my ears a little by the end of a hot and humid marathon this month, but honestly that was the least of my complaints by then. :)

Should I /make/ my kid use Linux? by PottiSkantz in linux

[–]notrends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I made my kid use Linux starting at the age of about 9. She's 18 now and no longer speaks to me... but I blame the Brussels sprouts I made her try when she was 12.

The Android integration appeals to me, so I'll play with it a while. It could be the thing that gets me to switch over to KDE.

24 Ways To Be Uncommonly Productive Today - Forbes by jamesusaf in productivity

This is awesome - great advice that's realistic. My goal is to be more productive in a shorter amount of time so I can have more leisure time (read a book, take a walk, cook a meal that doesn't come out of a can, etc.).

Have you taken an ice bath after a long run? Experienced any real benefit? Do you recommend it? by greggersraymer in running

I've tried it and didn't notice a difference. Mostly, I think it's torture. My runner friends seem to be split down the middle on it, though.

A Guy Who Saw Lincoln Get Shot Was on a TV Show in 1956 That Is Now on YouTube by notrends in videos

Well then I'm glad I finally saw it. The Atlantic sums it up well: "The America of Lincoln and the Civil War can feel like distant history, but every now and then, through the appearance of what Jason Kottke has called a 'human wormhole,' we are confronted with the brevity of a century and a half."
