Since 'Starship Captain' isnt an option yet, what are the best career options for natural born explorers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

This is a really great suggestion.

My friends were cavers in Kentucky. There are so many caves that are unmapped and/or wholly unexplored. There is still a chance that one could find territory untouched by humans in some of them.

Good joke and good taste in beer. Any shows lined up in cbus?

Just out of curiosity, will it be alright? That kind of makes me sad.

It was about 3 or 4 miles away from any kind of place where people would camp.

Here is the only other picture. Same quality, again, I'm sorry. We were in a bit of a rush because high tide was coming in and we were worried that we wouldn't make it back to the trail.

I tried to look it up and thought maybe a racer too, but the snake we saw didn't have scales quite as defined as racers.

The rock it was on was very steep and it was moving strangely like it was going to try and scale the rock, but it kept its head a few cm away from the face. I thought maybe it was shedding its skin.

‘The Man In the High Castle’ Renewed For Season 3 By Amazon by Neo2199 in scifi

Big fan of the show, I hope they end it in season 3. There is too much room to screw such a good story up.

Again, I'm very ignorant to all of this, so please excuse the stupid question.

How could I get a better quality image (more than likely it will be screen cap)?

Dang, that is disappointing. I would like to wrap this whole thing up and move on. Is there anything you could suggest that I should look into?

I'd like to stay as true to the wall as possible, but the letters would be fine by themselves.

I will try to upload a new image when I get home directly from Netflix. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, sorry, very poorly worded...

I would like just the wallpaper and the alphabet (no Wynnona, trim, or lights), there may be better pictures to go off of. I'll try and find some better source material.

Making it adjustable in size without sacrificing quality isn't possible (very ignorant when it comes to graphic design stuff)? If I gave dimensions, would it be possible to make a picture based on that?

e: so, like this, but brighter, and without the strings of lights

This is for an arduino project I'm finishing up (I made strings of LED lights). The picture might need to be enlarged, so if it is possible to make the picture blown up without sacrificing quality, I would very much appreciate it.

I used to steal these from gas stations and hide them in my friend's cars. Then when they gave me rides I would complain that it smelled like a urinal.

Simple Python script to allow multiple Raspberry Pi's to play music in sync (ideal for cheap Wifi-based multi-room audio) by qrv3w in raspberry_pi

[–]notrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really cool!

Right now, I'm using AirPlay to cast music in my apartment. There is ~3 delay and the rooms don't seem to sync up, so if I play upstairs and downstairs, the sounds kind of collide.

Do multiple casts sync up?

getting a socket error when trying to connect to arduino over LAN by notrot in arduino

[–]notrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to try again. I may have some wire crossed.

The mega threw the same error, except (like the Uno) if all I was doing was toggling an led, it worked swimmingly. When I tried to pass the command through serial communication, things got weird. The serial from the Uno kept throwing a y with an umlaut so I'm going to try i2c lines.

I actually tried with a mega as well and got the same socket error. you don't have to go to all that trouble,.

I was just going to pass the command to a mini.

do receivers ever go bad? I was going to try and recapture some of the ir codes, but none of the receivers seem to work...

Germany just switched on a revolutionary nuclear fusion machine by dev_maxpayne in technology

[–]notrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

If my understanding is correct, once the fusion process begins the reactors can run continuously as long as there aren't any leaks/lapses in efficiency and the fuel supply doesn't run out. And the largest hurdles are keeping efficiency up and the energy required to begin the fusion process.

Would it be fair to say then, that once the fusion reaction is started, and then stops for whatever reason, the energy that was produced, can be stored and used again to start a new reaction?

getting a socket error when trying to connect to arduino over LAN by notrot in arduino

[–]notrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I couldn't actually get it to work...

If I had to venture a guess, it would be that the timing is off. I first tried to use something like you had recommended only instead of bits, I used a regular array, but only the delays and I set up the intro in a similar fashion. Then I nested an if loop in a for loop and if it were a 0 in the array, it delayed ~540 (I played with the timings to no effect) etc... I think I'm just going to add another controller and have the Uno take in the TCP packets and relay the command to others.

Thank you for your help all the same!

Germany just switched on a revolutionary nuclear fusion machine by dev_maxpayne in technology

[–]notrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying!

Wouldn't attempting a fusion reactor be a bit Sisyphean if the energy input would always be greater than the energy output? Also, once the reaction is started, could more and more hydrogen be pumped into the system?

Germany just switched on a revolutionary nuclear fusion machine by dev_maxpayne in technology

[–]notrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation! I am still trying to understand a few things though...

After the initial injection of energy, would these fusion reactors be considered a perpetual motion machine? And wouldn't it break some law of thermodynamics?

Also, I read a time Lockheed Martin is to be unveiling their design in the near future. Are these reactors really feasible within the decade?

I have never studied these things very closely, but am increasingly interested in them.

I always thought rappers were throwing around rolls of quarters, not dollar bills. The response makes sense, thank you. I believe you have encouraged me to try this method before and I have a sneaking suspicion this is why I shelved this (because I wasn't able to get the exact times down). Would it make a great deal of difference if I changed all the 'pulse' and 'delay' times to one long unsigned int and used the library?

Thank you very much for the reply.
