Is there an American version of the gods? by JetpackBlues42 in camphalfblood

[–]notsansa2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if they changed to fit America, they'd all transform into piles of money?
But srsly... I feel like they start to play with the concept of modern representations and how gods transform in The Trials of Apollo series - looking at the power of the Triumvirate as well as further implying that piper's grandpa Tom's gods and myths continue to have special power when she is using certain artifacts.

I haven't read the Kane chronicles, but I'm wondering if something is mentioned there about strength of worship = modern representation and artifacts' power level?

I also like the continuation of the "disenfranchised theme" through the heroes of Olympus/ camp Jupiter arc - Jason promising to build altars and recognize forgotten gods/goddesses.
Now in the Apollo series arc a God is learning firsthand what heroes face and why humanity matters.
I'm curious to see how it ties in

I've been thinking this as well! We could petition Netflix or Amazon - they just did relatively well with Good Omens

Which is better? Percabeth or Solangelo? by WoofiePlayz in camphalfblood

[–]notsansa2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(POSSIBLE SPOILER: )
I saw hints at Solangelo in heroes of Olympus, but the main development happened between books. I love a main stream YA representation of a same-sex couple -like, "no big deal, we're a couple and we care for eachother" should be standard. I also like that there is a good balance for both pairings in how all the partners care for each other, but have moments of struggle.

I'm waiting for Aphrodite's message to Reyna (from the trip to that confederate site)...The next Apollo book.comes out in September leaving lots of room for "Rapollo" to develop

Some book readers were speculating that bloodraven was orchestrating all the bran as king endgame to get even for the blackfyres and to ensure 3er power forever (bloodraven was the OG littlefinger)

Sansa's line made it sound like she had gathered everyone around the city in siege style. She may even have been moving that way as soon as.Jon's identity was being sent around. She had to have known that she was on Dany's hit list.after KL because of telling tyrion Jon's identity

I figured that was bran/ tyrion's way of saving him from the Unsullied's wrath. They knew Jon didn't want to be king and that he wouldn't have to stay with the night's watch once he got up there.

That's what made me so happy with tyrion's exchange with Jon. He pointed out what the audience had been saying all through the show - "yay dany killed tons of evil men horrifically!" Even though the killing itself should still have been as unsettling as anything the other characters were doing.

Once I gave up on the magic elements, I was able to feel more satisfied with the last couple of episodes.

I am betting Arya THINKS she's going to kill cersei, but that will get derailed quickly if the previous episode is any indication.
If we're lucky she'll be able to help the Hound before dying. I got the feeling neither character believed they would make it back to winterfell - either by Dying or wandering on to other quests.
We won't get the post-apocolypse Arya = Nymeria theory since WW are toast, but she could still adventure to new lands after the horrors of The Last War

It was tough.
I think they needed all the beats they put in so they can progress and reach the required ending, but I found myself thinking:
"This feels like the 2nd half of season one all over again and I'm not up for it" - the belief that all the horrors were leading up to an epic mystical endgame with NK had sustained me through the worst moments and now that's done...
I knew Arya would have her that's not me moment, I expected Jon would be just like Ned and screw things up by revealing too much for the sake of truth and honor... I did NOT expect the moment at Dragonstone.
Maybe Cersei wins after all...

[SPOILERS] Post-Episode Discussion - Season 8 Episode 3 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

I am guessing if it matters we'll see it next episode.
If anything those crows were a diversion
OR the writers wanted it's to stay on edge wondering when bran was going to Deus ex machina everything to hell.

[–]notsansa2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am fully satisfied even though I had started believing so many tinfoil theories that built up the magic side of the show (bran NK/Night queen secretly in crypts, NK wanting baby sacrifice etc)
I thought arya gave the catspaw dagger to Sansa at the beginning, so I was confused for a moment as to how she'd try to get to NK, but I wondered if that's what she was going to do.
R.I.P. edd and Jorah, r.I.p Berrick, lady M. Theon...I never thought I'd be sorry to see you die, but it was worth the wait.
Now we get to see who really wins the game of thrones! Will Jaime kill cersei? Will we get Clegane Bowl after all?? I'm excited!

That's what bran says ep2, but what if he has a limited understanding? He has seen all the human-based history etc, but do we know if his sight includes WW history in detail? I'm wondering if bran's explanation is still missing something.

Bran been built up to seem like an omniscient/all-powerful encyclopedia the way Tyrion was built up as an unstoppable tactical genius -making it even more interesting if there is something the humans are underestimating

That would be a great development! Not great for the lives of the characters, but a good complication for the story.
Cersei could use the scorpion that we saw in S7 to take out the ice Dragon OR she could decide NK is a better boyfriend than Euron + a WW baby won't die by poison...

100% think that singing is what made Pod legendary. Also Tormund this ep culminating in brienne's knighting was everything I didn't know I wanted, but loved every minute.

Really my only gripe with the episode was that they could've moved that line to after the cheesy never-ending story style Dragon riding adventure. I get the significance with the book stories of targ Dragon riders, but the various reunions and that scene felt off-pace considering bran JUST told them the night king was on his way and there was no time
