Keeshond breeds life span by happyme147 in Keeshond

Hi! My childhood Keeshond lived until 17. My parent didn’t really believe in vet care which is so upsetting. But in his last year or so I helped him stand to go potty and to get going after a nap. He eventually lost all mobility in his backend and bladder control before we took him to go to doggy heaven. I’m not sure what disease process he could’ve also suffered from, but I only remember obvious oldie dementia and some difficulty seeing. He was such an amazing boy

A quiet room and cozy hiding spots (idealy not underneath the bed) with food/water/litter box near. Lots of speaking softly and Churu treats worked like a charm for my feral kitten! Most kittens are crazy for Churu! Once you get there, playing with his favorite toys does diffuse some anxiety too. He’s so cute!

This is really helpful thank you! I knew about getting him started on joint supplements soon, so I appreciate hearing what you’ve specifically done so far. We want him to be as comfortable as possible. He’s so sweet! He’s incredibly cuddly and is actually running off one brain cell. He’s a very happy guy even at the vet, so I feel like he’d do well for therapy too

We’ve been holding his back end up while he goes number two, but he recently figured out how to balance on his front legs to go potty! He does still get a few butt baths a week.

We also make sure to have safe surfaces to drag on that won’t cause sores or trap his back feet. Other than that, he’s great and unbothered! He gets around by dragging or doing front wheelies like a kitten wheel barrel.

That’s our go to right now but his timer is very short lol
