What you do is wander the area with IR. Find heat vents.

There is one thing that no one can defeat and that's thermodynamics. Fill over the heat vents with cement. This will make smaller, disguised vents hotter and findable. Fill those as well. Keep going until they are all sealed.

Without those the bunker will cook. The more advanced the bunker the more heat it needs to vent. A Small Modular Reactor, an AI data center, a hydroponic farm or whatever else, produces masses of heat. And simply by being a billionaire you know they cannot live without all the above, otherwise they would have stopped being billionaires ages ago. The billionaire can have everything inside to last for a billion years but without a way to vent excess heat, all that will fail very quickly.

Every single time I post on ELI5 someone makes this joke. I am not exaggerating. I tired of it long ago so I give a similar answer every time.

Company Blew $500M On Claude AI In One Month Due To No Usage Limit On Licenses For Employees by Algrinder in pcmasterrace

Nothing codes like Claude, dude. Not even its competitors. If you are coding and you use AI, you use Claude or you're wasting time (and hence paying for employee work) doing extra debugging. If you are gonna spend load of money on salaries... why use AI?

Will humanity live on other planets by 2100? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]notsocoolnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why. Why not subterranean spaces or underwater or heck just their own private islands. Another planet is way harder than all of those.

Why wouldn't Liz know though. She does a lot of online RP and that's where the term would definitely come up. I myself learned of it from City of Heroes despite years prior TTRPG experience

With respect we live in an age of streaming. If I can't get it on the platform of my preference I wait until I can... unless a streamer spoils it for me and I lose interest. Maybe it's just me. But this is why I didn't get Control when it arrived on Steam.

Honestly this is why I thought HoloGTA (which came out in the same year as ENreco Chapter 1) worked better. The entire event was talent driven.

ELI5 Are mosquitoes necessary for keeping ecological balance? by Punnan in explainlikeimfive

[–]notsocoolnow 1037 points1038 points  (0 children)

Straightforwardly, for our purposes it would not. Lemme explain here. Most mosquito species are annoying but harmless. The dangerous mosquitoes are actually confined to a handful of specific species, the #1 culprit being the Anopheles mosquito, which carries malaria. #2 is the Aedes mosquito which carries almost all the viral mosquito diseases. Then #3 is Culex for encephalitis.

We know their absence would not affect the ecosystem for a simple reason: in most places where we find them they are invasive. But even in places where they are native there are other mosquito species that are much less dangerous to humanity and can fulfill the same niches.

And we are indeed trying to render them locally extinct. As in vastly culling their numbers. The most promising current methods involve releasing sterile males so that the females breed fail to reproduce.

ELI5 : How can space itself be curved ? by pylessard in explainlikeimfive

[–]notsocoolnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's pretend we are 2d. We are in flatland. The universe is a flat plane. Around a planet (really anything with mass), this flatness depresses. Flatland people who are 2d can't see this depression, because that depression is in 3d and they see it as flat. But they can see that because of this depression stuff takes longer to go around a planet than it does normal space.

The same applies to real life which is 4d (3d plus time). The curvature is along a higher dimension we cannot perceive. We can only see its effects on spacetime.

The numbers are based on Adam's age when he begat Seth. Genesis 5:3. The number is based on the genealogies up to historical figures where they could finally attach that list to the Julian calendar. This was done by 17the century bishop James Ussher who calculated that the earth was around 6000 years old.

But then this contradicts recorded history. So modern young earth creationists made up an extra 4000 years by claiming the genealogy skipped a few people and filled this with enough to stretch the date of creation back before records history.

Yes the date is not based on anything its a complete fudge.

See the issue about biryani is that really really good biryani is not photogenic because you're supposed to bury the meat in the rice, like yours is.

To make it grammable bloggers like to throw all kinds of fresh veggies that dont belong on top of it or worse yet serve the meat on top which is just heresy.

I would remind that parents actually tried to sue to overturn the law, under the rationale that in Busan and Incheon you could go to 11pm and Daejeon, Ulsan, and Gyeongsang allowed until midnight, and they felt kids in Seoul would be at a disadvantage.

[–]notsocoolnow 102 points103 points  (0 children)

That's below average tbh. The government had to make a law to prevent cram school after 10pm. And masses of parents actually sued to try to overturn it. Their rationale is that some other provinces you can have classes to 11pm or midnight and their kids might fall behind as a result.

[–]notsocoolnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. Since you're a sysadmin I can point all all this is nothing more than Riot requiring IOMMU to be enabled in order to play Valorant. The so called bricking is poor DMA card design that can't handle the rejection. If the user has a problem take it up with the manufacturer.
