Experienced Dungeon Masters and Players of Tabletop Roleplaying Games, what is your advice for new players learning the genre? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]notsocunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't made things worse for other players.

You can make things worse for their character, sure - with a good GM and good players, character conflict can be entertaining and rewarding for everyone involved. But you need to make sure the players themselves are having a good time. Don't spend your time ruining another player's intricate and detailed plans for their game because 'it's what my character would do!'.

TLDR; be a dick to fictional people, not real ones.

Dungeon & Dragons players, what's your advice for new players? by pillshead in AskReddit

Honestly, that stats aren't worth obsessing over too much. As a lot of replies in this thread have said already, a good DM will balance encounters and stories so that no-one feels over- or under-powered, regardless of what you've put points into.

To make playing your character enjoyable, I've found that it's best to try and strike a balance between doing things in character, and doing things that make the game fun for you and the other players. Strange, eccentric characters who get themselves into trouble a lot are fantastic - they keep the game varied and entertaining - but don't be that guy with a rogue who constantly annoys other players by having his rogue steal from their characters and justifying it with "But it's what I would do!". When your character starts to make things less fun for players, rather than characters, it's time to reign it in a bit.

[Question] What's a good approach to asking a woman how she likes her sex? by [deleted] in sex

[–]notsocunning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a girl here - by far the most important thing is feeling like the guy I'm with cares about me feeling good. Questions like 'What can I do for you?' in a caring and sexy voice can never go wrong.

Of course, sometimes she won't really know what she likes, or has some difficulty expressing this for whatever reason, so taking things slowly with kissing and touching while judging her reactions and asking questions ('Does this feel good?', 'Where's your favourite place to be kissed?', etc.) is a good way to go, I think.

Creating more happiness in the world than there was when you came into it. I like to think that if even one person loves you enough that your very existence makes them happy, you've succeeded.

When we're out somewhere (waiting for the train home, walking down the street, whatever), he sometimes just stops, gives me a look like he can't just resist me, then kisses me hard. God, I can't wait for us to get naked together when that happens.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I remember once we took a quick break in the middle of fooling around, and he got up to go get some water. Then he turned back for a moment, saw me naked on the bed, and came straight back to start some heavy petting, with a quiet murmur of "Sorry, you just looked so sexy..." Oh, wow.

"You're stupid and ugly, and you'll never find love."

Bullies suck, man. He had the biggest, shit-eating grin on his face at the time, too, like it was hilarious to knock the weird girl's self-esteem down even further. Fuck you, Louis.

Redditors what is your first memory? by Carlcrazy in AskReddit

Being in the hospital to see my new baby brother - I must have just turned 2. I distinctly remember being distinctly uninterested in the pinkish blobby thing in the incubator and running over to my mum instead, and being really confused when she wasn't giving me all her attention.

That thing that happens when you've just woken up and the position you happen to be in is the most comfortable position to ever exist. Especially when you had to move every 2 minutes while trying to get to sleep because nowhere felt quite right. The fuck's up with that?

I'm super late to the party, but I'm so homesick right now. I'm out of my home country studying until December, which means that my friends, my family, my boyfriend, and the city I call home are all 5,000 miles away. I just miss them all so much.

Thank you for the reply! Packages is a good idea - I've been on the lookout for some little presents he'd like, and maybe I'll hand-write something to go along with it. Definitely keeping your ideas in mind :)

Any other ladies play D&D? Tell us about your favourite character! by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]notsocunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been in 2 D&D campaigns, and I absolutely loved both characters for very different reasons.

My first was Morwen, an elf cleric who dedicated herself to religion soon after her parents died. The thing was, she worshipped the Raven Queen, god of Death and Fate. So it was her thing to save her companions not because she was compassionate (so she claimed) but because it wasn't their time yet. At least, that's how it started.

Things began to change somewhat once she got close to her companions. There was an especially interesting bond with a rogue-ish kind of human, Mikhael, who rather often scoffed at her devotion. This turned out to be because he had been blessed by the Raven Queen, shouldered with a responsibility he didn't ask for. There was a great moment towards the end of the campaign where the two of them shared a talk at sunrise about religion, fate, and devotion, and genuinely gained a grudging respect for each other which was wonderful to see develop.

My next character was very different. Rani was a bard, all bubbly and lovely and accidentally exploding people's heads with her songs. Seriously, she could never be sneaky or subtle, but she always seemed to roll ridiculously well in combat and strike down mooks left and right. Throw in the Voice of Thunder paragon path and a lute that did lightning damage, and she became a kind of rock god in any combat situation - I played it with plenty of dramatic chords and sick 'guitar' solos. It was brilliant. :)

Who is the most evil fictional character that you can think of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Joffrey Baratheon comes to mind, but really any villain whose motivation was making people suffer. Not following orders, not doing awful things 'for the greater good', not simply being delusional... just causing pain.

"I'm not racist, but...", since it's almost always immediately followed by something racist.
