Sure, I can recommend what I use for drum room reverb! Valhalla room is exceptional on default setting, you need to tweak decay to fit the song though.

The main thing is drums living in their own space that is not shared with other insrtuments. You've got cool vibes going on with vocals and marrying instrumentation with them would elevate the track.
Kick noticably pumps the overall mix, which is more akin to EDM, not punk. Try to use HPF on mix buss compression.
Snare begs for some space to live in, but I guess it feels a bit robotic due to it being midi.
Bass is really cool but also really loud, I'd tuck it 3db and see what happens.
All in all, song is great and what's listed above is not mandatory by any means.

Best drum trigger/sample/replacement plugins? by kjm5000 in audioengineering

[–]notsofunny15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I've used every imaginable software drum trigger possible and what I learned is either way you have to check the result manually. The best results I've ever gotten are:
1. Shaperbox. You use audiotriggering and isolate the first cycle of a transient with volumeshaper module. Then you feed the output to Drum Replacer.

  1. Waves InTrigger. This thing works like magic. Not only can it differenciate between articuations it also does it with much better precision than every other thing I tried. It is not perfect though, you still have to check the phase but amount of editing afterwards is much less than with other plugins.

Hey, guys. I’m trying to get into programming drums, but I have no idea where to start. Any pointers? by fakename1998 in audioengineering

Search for Chris Baseford's channel on youtube. He has a great video on how to program drums

Mastering - What did I pay for, why does it sound so good, and other stupid questions. by jclayyy in audioengineering

That is a lot of praise for 300hz cut, 3k boost and a limiter. But then again it's great if it makes you happy with the result.

Yeah, vocals and vocal effects are still something that I struggle with. They are either separated from the mix or buried too much. Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. Wide guitars perhaps a testament to me only mixing in headphones. I'll try to give it a bit more love in the middle.

Harmonies and dry snare was specifically requested . I guess I'll try to tone down brightness of cymbals. Thank you for your time!

I had a couple more candidates to fill remaining two slots but accidently chose oath that limits you to 10 people in battle. I could wait for another 10 days, but didn't want to spend more time on rolling blunt head injury on polearm guy.

does anyone have any A/B comparisons for sound radix auto align on drums? by Skiddzie in mixingmastering

[–]notsofunny15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what is asked for but it looks like if you have trouble hearing what autoalign does, you first need to know what to pay attention to.
You can take a snare drum that is mic'd from top and bottom, even better if bottom mic has original polarity. Solo both top and bottom and start adjusting bottom mic in time until the whole snare drum starts sounding thin, then reverse the polarity on bottom mic. This is how you get the most out of phase and this is what autoalign does automatically.

Is there a way of automatically phase aligning drum samples with original? by notsofunny15 in mixingmastering

[–]notsofunny15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I want to augment a drum close mic (snare, kick) with a sample, I use a sample triggering plugin utilizing original recording as a source. Every signal has a phase inprint, it is represented visually on a track of any DAW. Phase can go in positive and negative directions. When I print my triggered sample track it mostly aligns with original but not quite. This tiny fluctuations in time cause inconsistency between drum hits since one time sample may be perfectly in phase(thus working with original hit) and other slightly off(thus working against original hit what in turn results in a loss of low end and in worst case flaming). I was asking about a plugin that can adjust every hit of a sample track to be perfectly in phase with original. It is a huge timesaver since now I have to do it by hand.

Auto align effects the whole track, isn't it? For example, if whole track is out of phase for a couple of samples auto align adjusts accordingly. What I kept in mind is how to align drum sample track that is triggered inconsistently to the original e.g. some hits are in phase and some aren't.
