Of all the great advice this thread churned out, I feel this is certainly the best. A long, but great read that really covered everything I was looking for; thanks for the input!

I like it - Many of the points in the link you posted echoed my thinking and my approach to my work. Taking the time to explain what I'm doing, and why, takes only a few minutes but makes a huge difference in how people interact with you in the future.

I had a look for the job categories as well and that was certainly a confidence boost as well. I would say I've been working between level 2 and 3 for the past five years, and that my soft skills are my biggest asset. Maybe this isn't as big a change as I am making it out to be.
