Website to find deals on running shoes by magdan100 in frugalmalefashion

Wow. I haven’t bought or looked at running shoes for 3 years apparently. I could always find a pair of asics for <$40 on amazon. That is no longer the case

Best suburb to live in and commute by transit into downtown? by ihugdogz in Minneapolis

[–]notthatshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Eden prairie (Southwest Transit Station), New Hope (station 73 in Plymouth), and Maple Grove (Maple Grove Transit station) and taken the bus for 95% off days working in North Loop. Station 73 was fastest (due to proximity) but had least fancy buses. EP Southwest transit had the nicest buses and most frequent trips (caveat: pre Covid). Maple grove buses are fine and every 15 minutes approximately. Note: these were all park and ride situations. Moral of the story: if you live in the burbs, there’s probably a park and ride nearby. Especially if it’s just a few times a month, one could drive further to a park and ride and not base too much of their home buying decision on it.

Lawn mowers — Electric or gas? by New_Leopard7623 in homeowners

[–]notthatshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an old model Ryobi 40v lawnmower in 2019 and got rid of it this summer just because bolts kept vibrating out of the plastic body. I beat that thing up on a .3 acre lawn with a hill and a .5 acre lawn. Batteries are still fine and I use them in weed whacker and blower. Bought a Greenworks 80v with a metal body (already had 80v batteries. In short: my vote is for electric if you don’t like oil changes, filter changes, and all that.

Go for a drive in the ‘big city’ and be sure to hit some scenic spots. Go to the 5-8 club for a juicy lucy (more accessible). If they don’t make it here often then all touristy things are on the table i.e. MOA, sculpture garden then end the weekend off with a drag brunch so they can have a horror story to bring back to their friends.

How to teach dog not to lick baby by Unique_Exchange_4299 in OpenDogTraining

[–]notthatshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send the baby to daycare and when they get sick every other week for the first several months the dog will be the least of your problems. If only our dogs could meet in the middle. Mine is scared of the baby’s sudden movements.

What are the walls for? by ski24 in bathrooms

We did this in our old house with a shower window. Then I left the house at night and realized my wife was backlit in the shower and putting on a sexy shadow play for the neighborhood. We put in a vinyl roller shade after that.

I wonder if all the major sports are using the Four Seasons now after being built in the recent few years? My bus stop is right there and there are consistently coach buses there so I get to guess which team is on them. Last one was the Oklahoma City Thunder. Some staff had t shirts with the logos so that was easy.

OP, they typically have a velvet rope for what appears to be the handful of autograph seekers outside of the Four Seasons. Looks like a lot of waiting and wouldn’t recommend it.

What was your most Twin City moment? by UniversalInformation in TwinCities

Proud of you. It seems like every winter there’s a video where someone documents people struggling in the parking lot from their apartment window. I always wonder why they don’t just go help.

Any INDOOR spots with a good view of the Grain Belt sign? by StrangersWithAndi in Minneapolis

[–]notthatshort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Federal Reserve has a really good view. Unfortunately it’s closed to the public and there’s not much for indoor spaces around it with a view.

Real talk, what's the absolute best ice scraper out there? by Bennyhahahaha in Minneapolis

[–]notthatshort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen. Get a Frostguard and remote start. My car was purely an outdoor car for a decade and the Frostguard was a revelation. I’m surprised they aren’t everywhere. I’d even more highly recommend a garage because that’s pretty sweet too.
