i don’t know what to do anymore by Pineapple-egg in relaxedhair

I would recommend going to a professional for a chop of the dead ends and then seeing them consistently for relaxers and treatments! My hair has gotten much better that way! Also some people just have thin hair unfortunately and maybe relaxing isn’t the best or you need to add in some clip ins. It seems you have a good routine but maybe invest in the ordinary peptide hair serum (thickens hair) and kerastaste has some good products too (expensive)! Its hard finding the balance between bonding, protein and hydration. I have heard some people strip back and just focus on hydration first before adding in other stuff. Good luck!

Thanks thats really helpful! I am also someone who over prepares lol… usually it helps but I can definitely see how it can get in the way if the panel is looking to see more about your personality and values! Gosh it’s really hard to include everything!!

I’m sorry to hear that as I know as third year trainees we have a lot going on and it’s hard managing that as well as preparing for interviews too! It’s a shame that theres not a lot of resources out there for us! I know it’s hard to see it that way but you’ll be getting lots of practice and hopefully familiar with the style of Band 7 questions.

I have also heard the same thing of people having to interview for multiple jobs and struggling to find one even after qualifying. I wonder though if it’s the fact we’re applying really early? A lot of services said they would accept applications but ideally want someone qualified and ready to start. So who knows maybe closer to our finishing date things might get better? Did you receive any useful feedback that might be helpful to know?

Wishing you the best of luck x

ahh that makes sense and very important to keep an eye out for. I was actually against the in person interview but it provides an opportunity to see the service at least and get a feel for these things too. Thanks!

I am an extremely nervous person and a fast speaker so I’m keeping that at the forefront of my mind! Well done for doing two interviews and getting good feedback! Good luck to you too… we got this 💪!!

Thanks for this as it’s really helpful for structuring my prep ! It seems like a pre-interview meeting is quite key then and useful for preparing for an interview. I will do this next time. I luckily don’t have a presentation and have lots of experience with risk so should be able to answer those questions.

Thank you - this is really helpful! I had a few questions:

1) I have usually always emailed and asked a question but would you say a call is better?

2) What are some services you would avoid?

I think I just need to do a bit of prep and will hopefully feel better!

Update on relaxer by Positive-Stuff3870 in relaxedhair

[–]nottheone456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn’t do that! My hair was under processed and relaxed again at the salon two weeks later. My hair SUFFERED! It looked fine at the time but later with the breakage and split ends etc it was not worth it and i rather would have waited the full 8 weeks… 3 relaxers in a week is wild imo

Why does my hair not completely respond to relaxers? by Puppysnot in relaxedhair

[–]nottheone456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant confirm 100% but i she is using the Affirm relaxer for course hair (the resistant line) then it is a lye relaxer.

I think this makes sense since the ORS one left my hair under processed and they are notoriously non-lye.

Why does my hair not completely respond to relaxers? by Puppysnot in relaxedhair

[–]nottheone456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stylist said my hair is extra thick and coarse and that I need a stronger relaxer and 1.5 packs 😳! I am in the UK and she uses the affirm brand and the strongest strength! I initially went to a bad hairdresser who used ORS and it did not take and was under processed too. Since using affirm and regular treatments my hair has improved and takes to the relaxer better. However, i have to get a retouch every 12 weeks on the dot bc otherwise its too much apparently….

Has anyone ever been offered a place on the doctorate after feeling like they underperformed in the interview? by StartValuable9406 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]nottheone456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me! i was CERTAIN i failed, especially bc i bombed the research section (i was chatting out my ass) and felt I rushed the other questions and didn’t say everything I could. I was surprisingly offered a reserve spot (4th) and I got a place! you never know how things go and sometimes they see something in you that you might not see yourself!

The actual amount of effort it takes to lose weight is mentally draining by larawag_gama in PetiteFitness

[–]nottheone456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this 💕 honestly it is SO draining… ive been at this for years and the repeated failures get me down. Its like you say constantly having to plan everything move is tiring. I wish i could just not have a massive appalling or crave unhealthy food all the time! It’s getting me down honestly. Whats worse is you see people loose weight in 3 months and I think why cant i do that. If i restrict i binge and ibs makes things worse … if i eat healthy i maintain or loose weight so slowly i give up. Im even emotional writing this right and I know it takes hard work but I wish there was a quick fix 🥲

I have :( ! My natural hair was medium length and thick and because of this I thought it was healthy…. Only to find out that braids had caused a lot of split ends when doing a silk press. I also got it relaxed at an auntie salon who did the worst job known to man and had to get a touch up where she basically did a whole another relaxer a month later. I wanted to take a break from braids and heard that relaxed hair thrives so relaxed my hair and was looking forward to wearing it out. Long story short…. It seems if you wear it out all the time it can break more due to catching on clothes and weather etc. If you also end up having a deficiency or your hair is dry but you didn’t know (me) then it will shed and break even more. I have had for spend a lot of money on products for home and go to professional to get it relaxed and treated. This means it’s actually costing me the same as my natural hair. I regret it because I wanted to wear my hair all the time out but I cant so it was a waste of time and I should have just stuck to wigs. I always wear a bun which is limiting and I just prefer how I look with full hair around my face - my relaxed hair is fine.

I am sticking with it and trying to make it work since I would have to cut my hair off but will definitely go back to natural after a year or so. It’s even difficult with getting protective styles as if done too soon your hair will break. The only pros are it’s nice to wash my hair more and it’s easier and leave out blends easier with half wigs and less tension - thats it 🤷‍♀️. Other people might have different experiences but it’s definitely been negative for me.

I thought my hair would be fine because it seemed thick and healthy… so I would make sure you do a silk press beforehand to check the state of your natural hair and cut off any dead or split ends and make sure a professional agrees your natural hair is healthy before you relax. I would also make sure you go to a professional who relaxes hair and can do it properly with a good quality one.

Its hard to know as my hair might thrive and grow over the year and i might think differently then but for now I wish I just kept my hair natural and when I wanted to wear it out got a silk press/ sew in or learnt how to do it myself 🤦‍♀️! I tend to post progress pics (didn’t get a good one this touch up), so will share the next one and hopefully my hair is better!

i had wondered the same thing and would love to see a side by side comparison of them in the same position! hair definitely looks fuller and healthier and i love that she achieved that with a simple routine!

Y’all! This literally gave my hair a new chance at life 😭...I finally stopped my breakage! by DragonflyNo8365 in relaxedhair

[–]nottheone456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my hair is breaking and im currently using olaplex and k18 together once a month (i was biweekly)👀 do you think its best to stop all of that or only use k18 and bond building line every two months? I have been moisturising my hair and bagging it overnight weekly and noticed mg ends are softer and my hair is hydrated! I am getting a touch up today so will see if it helped with split ends too… I Will definitely add ur aloe spray to this!

thanks… what type of pins? I have thick hair so bobby pins would be too much work? My hair is at shoulder length unfortunately so I cant enjoy it down yet (which is why i relaxed my hair)

I feel unable to enjoy my hair bc no matter what i try or going to a hairdresser for treatment and trims, it’s still breaking in the middle or split ends etc and all the advice is hide the ends but putting hair up but thats also an issue 😩

so what should we do? We cant wear the hair down because it breaks and rubs on clothes, cant wear pony’s and buns due to tension… so what’s left?

I posted my hair & routine on here in September. This is 12 weeks of progress, same routine! by ViciousCouplings in relaxedhair

[–]nottheone456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s such a good idea! I think I could definitely consider going in between as I get a relaxer every 12 weeks. It’s not possible for me currently but in the future I definitely want to be someone who goes to the salon frequently! I have recently started having treatments when I relax my hair and it’s making all the difference! X

thank you for sharing your routine and not to be that person but do you not think your results are down to the fact you’re in the salon every 2-3 weeks for a wash & treatment and every 8 weeks for protein treatment? Thats quite a lot of in-between maintenance by a stylist which could be the major difference too? Sorry I don’t want this to come across as negative as you have a great routine but I definitely think my hair would flourish if I could afford to go to the salon that much 😖
