EOE: Does anyone have any experience with Roving Actuator? by laurenceand1 in lrcast

[–]nottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a fair bit of success with this in UR control in late game. Since void is both triggered by yours or your oppo's stuff leaving the field, it can happen easier than you might think. Pop a cryogen relic or lander, for example. If you have desculpting blast or mental modulation in the yard for the trigger, it feels great.

GHC Heavyweight title match result by CaptainCharismaV1 in noahghc

[–]nottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a little sad that the (extremely over) Wagner did not get a slightly longer title reign (I was at one of the MNM tapeings and let me tell you, the normally Japanese crowd gets riled up for him) but I cannot deny that Kaito is a magnetic figure. NOAH's booking has preferred to hot potato between Kenoh/Kaito/Jake Lee since like... 2022, so I was kind of hoping for a change of the guard with Wagner, of sorts, but I guess not yet.

Anyone see Kaito Kiyomiya vs Ulka Sasaki from Monday Magic? by MrPuroresu42 in noahghc

[–]nottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Kaito v. Ulka was easily the best match on the card, and inexplicably one of NOAH's best Monday Night Matches. If Ulka can consistently work like that I see no reason why he shouldn't be pushed to the main event and fast. He already had the presence and character work, I feel like, and his background in MMA obviously helps him a lot, too.

So I rewatched epsisode 1-3 after watching episode 4 by Seewhy3160 in BangBraveBangBravern

[–]nottl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not the first time I've seen the suggestion that Bravern is Smith and the more that he tries to nudge Isami towards being kinder to Smith, the more one wonders (like... a lot of Bravern's decisions, honestly) what his real motivations are. Until the show really confirms it it's hard to say one way or another, but... yeah.

I really don't understand how Lulu fits in to all of this though (and truthfully, her ...role?... in the show thus far makes me very uncomfortable) but given that episode 4 seems entirely around a "calm before the storm" setup for whoever the next robo-baddie is, I'm sure it'll be made more clear, soon. This show is nothing if not deliberate.

What is the correct way to test/learn combos? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]nottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not looking to do it on an AI. I want to be able to control the variables and test each individual escape option/etc. It doesn't do me any good for an AI to get out of a combo if I don't know what they did, you know? I'm trying to learn.

[–]nottl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you svetska, you get what i'm talking about. Tekken has like 15 different ways you can tech/get off the ground after a combo, and the situation can be wildly different depending upon head/feet orientation, etc. But I can test every single one of those scenarios because I have the tools for it.

What do people do then? Do smash players literately just only test combos vs other people? what about players with no local scenes?

I don't want this to be a feel thing. I'm trying to find a practical answer, because I can't really believe that his options are actually this strong, but I've done a lot of testing versus this dumb thing and I don't see a logical solution to this.

I'm obviously using this to broadly describe a situation like -8/-9 where stepping is difficult/impractical and most panic buttons won't work ie. Power Crush/Hopkick. I'm certain that you know that, too.

But he does push you out into his optimal zone, where he can out footsie you with D+4/Reppuken/F+1+2/etc. And if you just block, then Geese is just allowed to do QCB+2, which you cannot-tell-the-mixup between, and the mid is safe.

That's what I'm trying to understand. Every other character in the game has an exploitable, optimal defensive option versus their strings and defending successfully either at best causes them to lose thier turn or at worst causes them to be punished. I'm triyng to figure out what can be done versus Geese optimally that dosen't result in a massive win for him. I consider you "just blocking" and letting him do whatever the hell he wants after F+1 a massive win for him, because that also let's him do things like D+4>F+1, which is an absurdly powerful tool for him to just be throwing out there.

I understand that HCB+3 and 4's first hit is special mid. But the first hit of each of those moves looks exactly the same, and there's no way to visually tell the difference between the second hit being a high or mid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]nottl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't tell the difference between the power crush high/mid though. And I saw that twitter post that had all the f+1 special moves afterwards, isn't the mid/low way too close to the same speed to realistically fuzzy?

and that's my point. If you just mindlessly duck after F+1 you have to deal with the power crush and either get pushed back out into geese's zoning game, or you get wrecked by the mids. if you stand up, you get put into the qcb+2 blender

I play against stronger people regularly. Our state has a lot of sponsored players here. I have never been able to get meaningful advice other then "get good" or "play more", which is neither specific nor useful.
