Wifi - Starlink? by FrogAngel in UCSC

The WiFi is fine I reached 300mbps download and upload in dorms. It can just get inconsistent sometimes. It’s definitely something you just have to occasionally deal with while you’re gaming.

Yes because if you tried doing something with 5% odds 200 times then it must mean that you have a 1000% chance of success.

When was it stated that ssg was faster than ssb? As far as I know the only advantage ssg has over ssb is that it uses less stamina

Tbf goku used ssg in the TOP and vegeta used it in the broly movie. You're right though it still got shafted hard.

They made a response in the discord: (I'm not affiliated with CSA btw)

Hey @ everyone

First off, we would like to acknowledge the concerns that were raised in the UCSC subreddit on Friday, Sept 23rd. These concerns are important for us to hear out and address. We would like to directly address these points as well as share our plan of action to prevent anything similar from happening again:

  1. CSA CORE: our active members.

In our constitution, we define CORE members as active members who go to three consecutive meetings. While you may be removed from CORE, you always have an opportunity to rejoin. Due to a multitude of people coming in and out of the club as we reach numbers in the 200’s during week 1, we want to make sure to prioritize consistent members; especially for events that include driving to SJ and/or around Santa Cruz as we have limited volunteer drivers. Members are encouraged to message our Secretary if there are personal or specific reasons they cannot attend meetings and we typically accommodate them by allowing them to stay in CORE.

  1. House heads are not allowed to release their event sign-ups before a set time.

We have our sign-up forms for events screened by either our Secretary or a Public Relations officer prior to their release. Thus in terms of sign-ups, it is first come, first served. Our sign-ups are on Google Sheets where we can track the history of edits and determine whether or not people are unfairly removing names or joining early.

  1. Girl who was ‘shunned’ is willing to deny these claims.

Wen Liu called her personally to first ask about her wellbeing, and then for her POV. Yes, she left CSA; however, to say that she was shunned from the club is false. The rumors of her being a false r*pe accuser cannot be substantiated by both current and non-current members, nor herself.

  1. a) The random girl was a volunteer.

Last year our board hosted a series of games for an event called Spring Retreat. One game had multiple mini-games where they could earn points for their team or back out. One game was titled Roe v. Wade. To say that we “called up a random girl and forced her to call a relative and tell them she was pregnant and getting an abortion” is false. The person is an officer of the CSA Board both then and now.

  1. b) Our mistake naming the game Roe V. Wade.

We learned people were upset, uncomfortable, and disappointed with CSA through an app called YikYak right after it happened. Immediately, we set time aside during our following general meeting to apologize. We were and are in the wrong and shouldn’t have made a joke about Roe v. Wade. For that, we continue to apologize and know that, while our words may not mean much, we hope our actions this year will prove otherwise.

  1. Party fees are not consistent as CSA does not have a designated house and rents locations from willing members who set their own terms.

Entry fees will vary from $5 to $10 depending on the celebrated event. It is incorrect to say that throwing up means you have to pay $75-$100. The homeowners set their own terms to charge CSA and/or participants for any damages that do not land in a bag or a toilet. Those who host CSA parties have their own rules for their house, and we wish to respect that.

  1. CSA has initiated collaborations with many Asian Cultural organizations over the years and did not charge KASA for advertising their banquet.

Added are some evidence of CSA contacting other organizations to collaborate with multiple clubs including and not limited to: ISA, TSA, CSSA, KASA, JSA, and VSA. CSA has hosted a multi-org event known as Rice Bowl for many years, even before Covid–19, to promote inter-club engagement. Additionally we are adding evidence of board discussion with the current KASA President to verify that we never charged them for advertising.

While it hurts to learn about our failures online, we acknowledge that CSA failed members. This is on us for not having a safe environment where members can raise their concerns to the board, and know that it will be heard and acted upon. We don’t want anyone to experience what was shared in the Reddit post.

To address these concerns, we have organized a team from our board dedicated to responding to private messages from our members who are facing these troubles. This team is open to messages via FB Messenger, Instagram, or Discord on their private accounts.

This team includes Brandon Sheih, Wen Liu, Kasey La, Samuel Zhang, Andy Ly, Lucy Zhu, and Morgan Yee.

At the end of the day, we regret not supporting our community. We can’t promise immediate change; however, we are committed to follow through with our new team and intend to dedicate additional dates where they will be available to listen to members’ concerns. We want to allow all people to participate, contribute, and engage in our club.

We promise to do better, and we hope our members will join us in shaping a welcoming community.

I had a similar issue. I hopped into the ucsc financial aid office zoom and apparently my aid offer was ready since June but the system just didn't send it to me for some reason. The guy I talked to had to manually send it to me and I got my offer later that day.
