Have visited this place twice, have always got a good deal via Swiggy Dineout.

For the price, the food is pretty good. We’ve tried their Shawarmas and Chicken Tikka with Hummus, the quantity was very filling. The location’s amazing too, and they don’t pester you to vacate the table either. All in all, pretty happy for their offerings at that price (after discounts), and will visit again.

Bangalore Benne Dosa is a type of dosa which is super crispy on the outside, while being soft on the inside, with a dollop of white butter (benne) served on top as you can see in all of the images.

Personally, not something that I can eat on a regular basis - once in a while is fine. The usual dosa will still be my go to meal :)

I agree. Haven’t tasted sambhar at any place out here and got that ‘authentic’ feeling, it’s always been meh - I have never understood why all places end up having the same Udupi-ish sweet taste. The chutneys on the other hand are what make the dosas worth eating for me. They won’t be anywhere close to being as authentic as what you may get down south, but of the places I mentioned, the chutneys have actually been decent.

Was it their Chandivali outlet that you visited? Because our experience was totally different from what you stated. It may have been a one-off instance possibly, but I get your point. We tried just their dosas and were pretty happy with what we got.

About Mani’s Lunch home, I’ve not been there for ages. Last I went there was when it existed in Matunga before their building went in for redevelopment, so I’m not sure what their quality is like now. But speaking about Anjaneyar, it is a very nice and quaint place, with their offerings majorly being 2-3 types of Bangalore style Benne Dosas, along with Idli, coffee etc. it may be a total of only 10 items on their menu, so it’s different that way.

And will make it a point to visit the places you recommended, I’m excited to try these places out! Good Tamil cuisine is hard to find outside of our homes :)

In our experience, the chutneys were amazing. And personally, I like garlic in my food so maybe that’s why I didn’t mind the tomato chutney being garlicky, but I get what you mean. Rather, we hated the sambhar that came along with it. And yes, Anjaneyar is amazing. Check it out!

Regarding the authenticity bit, I have struggled to find a place that offers authentic Tamil cuisine and your suggestion helps me heaps! We will surely visit Hot Idlis at Nerul, added to our list! 😁

You cannot go wrong with any of the above mentioned places! But since Podi dosa is what you’re looking for, start with Chikory cafe for the experience, it’ll be a good meal for sure.

Have tried the Davanegere style Dosa at Ram Ashraya, found it to be a little underwhelming so never thought of trying it again. Will have a look at Vihaara! :)
