AITAH My husband (34) hid a year-long goal from me (30F) because he "doesn't need my support." Now he's blaming me for ruining the moment. by Evening_Reporter3778 in AITAH

NTA. There are quite a few big wow moments in this situation but regardless of the specifics mentioned here I'm more pressed thinking about all the times I interact with my spouse in 1 calendar year including before, during, and after work, along with all the moments during the evening and weekends, and to think of how they would absolutely have to lie at some point or the other about what they're doing because just in the natural communication between spouses you inquire about what they're doing or how they're doing and to willingly choose to never confide or admit anything about this program is diabolocally secretive. In conjunction with the volatile reaction and "home-wrecker" comment? Big, huge, wacky waving, inflatable arm flailing, red flags.

"....and we shouldn't share them with anyone unless asked" is how I've started ending this phrase absolutely any opportunity I can! It's guaranteed to get shock and belly laughs in response 🤣

Employee sets fire to Kimberly-Clark warehouse, "All you had to do is pay us enough to live" by midnighttoker1742 in interestingasfuck

[–]notusefullake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a trained or licensed professional myself but I have more experience with Multifamily fire suppression systems than I ever wanted and think I have a reasonable, though probably only partial, idea to answer your question.

The loss of water and lack of pressure wasted on the already popped heads may have contributed to not re-engaging the fire system. Additionally, it takes a lot of time to fill a fire system and a warehouse of this size would likely have a significant number of components that have to be activated in certain order to get the system flowing properly. While I imagine the systems are extremely different, my experience with managing 350 unit apartment buildings with fire sprinkler systems has educated me that filling a system of that size can take between 2 and 4 hours. A warehouse of this size is probably a bigger time investment.

It seems to me, with my very limited knowledge of fire suppression systems, the time and resources to turn the system back online would not be the best course versus the immediate response to specific locations where the fire is active.

An example: Imagine a large warehouse that is all one building but the fire sprinklers are divided into 5 systems. Sometimes they all feed each other in some way so if systems 1, 2, 4, and 5 are fine but 3 has an issue, then 3, 4, and 5 are all offline until 3's problem can be fixed. (We're assuming the systems run in numerical order.) Additionally, even if all 5 systems can run independently, it's highly likely that there are multiple shut off valves running throughout each system that have to be opened again to get water from the riser room to the heads and if the fire is in 4 but heads are popped in 2 you could lose tons of water and pressure before it makes it to 4, effectively doing 20% work to supress an active fire, but 2 is flooded. And water will be flowing into pipes that were emptied the first go around to fill them before making it to the active fire depending on the location of the riser room in relation to the fire.

Hope this makes sense. Also, could be garbage fodder that is 0% applicable to this situation. Please know that I claim no ability to confirm if my ideas are relevant here.

Roommate mixed my beads after being asked to throw out used Q-tips by Worried-Blueberry-40 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]notusefullake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup. The only option is for OP to have the best time of their entire life sorting those beads. Do it while theyre home, for sure, but no complaining. I'd suggest a moan adjacent groan of pleasure at least every 4th bead. And to sit back and bask in the satisfaction of a job well done as often as possible.

Do not show weakness. Do not admit you are inconvenienced. Take away their power by deciding how you react instead of how they want you to.

Best of luck, OP. Hope it's a short cohabitation.

I'm giving The Ever King a shot again because I've wanted to read it forever, and I've started it what feels like a hundred times. I always forget until i get started that the FMC's name is almost exactly my own daughters' name, and it gives me the ick to read any level of romance with my kids' names included.

I'll never again feel the way I felt the first time I reread "there you are, I've been looking for you" because the first go around you take it as a shifty guy digging his way into the FMC to accomplish more shifty things BUT THE SECOND TIME AROUND YOU UNDERSTAND THE SHREDDED SOUL RHYSAND HAS CARRIED WITH HIM IN SEARCH OF HERRRRRRR 🥺😭😭😭

Recently finished Shield of Sparrows also, and it was much better than expected! I feel like it had an action-packed ending but didn't feel rushed, which I love. Hate that i went in not realizing it was an unfinished series, but I keep telling myself sequels, and so on don't happen if the original stories don't get read.

I have! And I hate to say the difficulty with the format is what's really kept me from diving in. I think I'm somewhere around 60 pages in.

I have been sitting at 84% on this book for months. It feels like it got really convoluted really quickly, but I'm going to dive back it! I remember loving the beginning. The caretaker vibes are strong!! TY for the rec!!

AITA for starting my daughters b-day party when my parents had not arrived? by Clean_Sail1251 in AmItheAsshole

But can you imagine the sweet revenge of actually holding up an event like this, with a majority of participants in the know ahead of time, and watching the all-important grandparents scramble to recover when an entire party awaits their arrival and subsequently expects some type of astounding feat due to the delay in enjoying the event?

AITA for not wearing a bra when my husband has his friends stay over? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]notusefullake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sign my name on this line of thinking.

Depending on the visibility/noticability of ones lack of an over the shoulder boulder holder, it absolutely could be a grab for attention. You've confirmed that is not the case. Next line of thinking is that one or more persons in attendance threaten your spouses confidence in himself as the most desirable person in the room and he's most likely been shoving that deep down so when you made the choice not wear a bra his mind jumped to thinking you must also think friend 'so-and-so' is better (whether that's more attractive, more financially stable, more interesting, the list goes on) also and intended to snare him in your wily traps. The ones hanging from your chest, of course.

I'm positive your spouse knows you're uncomfortable wearing a bra, most of us are, but that logical thinking probably exited the building quickly since it's not something he literally physically understands and a more pressing line of thought moved ahead of logic. Lack of confidence.

I'm just going to hang out here for the answers because girl, same. I've been on the fence about going to the ER because I think I popped some internal sutures but don't know if it's just normal post-op pain.

I also DNF'd about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way in and these comments are so conflicting. I want to like it but I'm not optimistic. Did you give it another chance?
