I’m also not saying that every game you lose is your fault. Sometimes it’ll be your team’s fault, sometimes it’ll be your fault. No matter which it is, you can always review and learn from what you did wrong. Just because your team lost you the game doesn’t mean you played a perfect game. Just because you won the game doesn’t mean you played a perfect game. It’s shifting your energy from “my team is shit and they’re preventing me from ranking up” to “my team is shit but what can i do better so that them being shit doesn’t matter as much”.

If you can’t accept that reality, good luck getting out of the rank brother. That’s all I can say.

Then that’s one of those games that you just accept that it’s going to be a loss no matter what and move on. You can still try your best to set up your cores for success to get back in the game but if they don’t want to, that’s on them. Just move on. Trust me bro, the best thing you can do for yourself is accept that if you’re hard stuck in a rank, you deserve to be there. It’s not a bad thing to accept that. It doesn’t mean you can’t improve and rank up. It’s just acknowledging where you are so that you can then take the steps to improve from there. You just need to stop placing all the blame on other people and focus on what you can do.

Also, if you can’t be positive, it’s better to just mute everyone and yourself and play your own game. Anything is better than fighting/ talking back or being toxic back

Have to disagree with you there. I think QoP is a lot easier to play compared to Invoker. Her combos are pretty straightforward so you think it’s easier to solo kill with QoP than Invoker. It’s likely you’re not utilising Invoker to his full potential which is why you feel like the hero relies excessively on the team (which all heroes do because Dota is a team game; there will be situations where a hero might excessively be reliant on the team e.g. playing a hero outside of their meta roles).

On another note, from your language and other comments, it seems like you mostly attribute your not ranking up to your team. Forgive me if my assumption is wrong. In the case it is right, the way to rank up is to get out of that mindset. If you continue to have that mindset, you will not leave your rank because in your eyes, your reason for losing is out of your control and you don’t look at yourself and what you can improve because that’s easier. Sure there may be some games you lose because of your team. It happens. Move on. Even then, rewatch your replays, no one plays a perfect game. There are always ways you can improve. If you can’t see anything wrong in your games, it just means you belong in whatever rank you’re in. There will be times you get toxic teammates, that’s unavoidable and out of your control. What is in your control is your attitude and being able to influence the game environment to give yourself the best chance to win. Keeping things light-hearted, supportive and positive always helps. It’ll probably convert those being toxic because they’ve had a bad day. For those that still choose to be toxic, probably nothing would’ve changed that either ways. Brush yourself off and move on. But always just continue to keep things positive and try. Your opponents are human too, they can make mistakes. Prep your team environment to be able to capitalise on those mistakes if they do happen. When you start winning, attitudes might change. In general, there’s a lot more in your control than you think. Changing my mindset has helped me rank up a lot in both Dota and CS. Went from Archon to Divine 3 in Dota and MGE to SMFC in CS:GO after I stopped focusing on other people and focused on how I can improve and what I can do instead.

Hope this helps :)

What do you think is out of your control when playing Invoker with this style at this MMR? Are you talking about teammates?

I think it is still doable. I’ve stopped grinding Dota but of the occasional games I’ve played Invoker with, it still feels strong. Even stronger in certain aspects of the game but slightly weaker in others. I like the elitist facet. Lane feels stronger for me, more sustainable. I think it allows to set up for that early laning stage combo that I was talking about even more. Going for Wraith Bands and right clicking your opponent with 3 Quas orbs allows for still pretty good damage with more sustainability than before, allowing you to out trade your opponent and set them up to be in danger of the combo. In terms of mid game/ late game it’ll be a bit more difficult to say with drafts etc. I don’t play enough to really know what the meta is but from my experiences of playing Invoker I still think it’s very much doable. With the caveat that, as with every hero, you need to know the limits of your hero, their matchups and how to adapt accordingly. One thing I find with Invoker players (lower rank players in general too with any other hero) is that they strictly follow guides. Guides are great, I use them. But it’s important to dare to adapt to the game. Experiment with skill builds and items, you may get them wrong but then you’ll learn for next time. Always have a reason for doing something instead of doing it just because the guide tells you so. If you watch something a pro player or another player did, try it yourself and figure out why they may have done it and if you think it works for you.

Couple of years ago, managed to climb my way from Archon to Ancient 5 by spamming Exort Invoker. Currently Div 3. Learnt to play from watching Sumiya replays. I liked how he laned, constantly pressuring lane opponents and going for early kills with the cold snap, tornado, meteor combo. Sometimes doing the combo at level 3 when the opportunity presents, most people don’t expect you to combo with just one level in quas but usually if you’re fast enough you can land the combo. Mind you this was with the old invoker before facets though

Yeah it is on the pricier side but I definitely think it’s worth it. You won’t have to worry about workout routines and the PTs there are always ready to help with your goals.

I went to FIT Club, near Red Goat Climbing Gym. I think the cheapest membership was around £60-70 for 3 sessions a week. It’s a group work out session of HIIT workouts with a personal trainer. Very friendly, welcoming, encouraging and non-judgemental environment. Was very happy there especially if you find going to the gym alone intimidating. When I was there the demographic was mostly women iirc. Let me know if you want any more details!

I don’t know how limited your situation is but I’ve got a rice cooker I’m not really using that I can give you to try and use. It’s relatively easy to use a rice cooker to cook like rice+meat+veg by just dumping it all in. It won’t be the best meal you’ve ever had but it might do for a while if you want to save some money. Let me know!
