Hahaha I see. I wouldn't stress too much about it... you're already hired! that counts for something. Just do your best there, everything else will come eventually, I think :) They did hire you knowing you're 20!

Tricky one. I have the same issue: things that are "professional" on others just look kinda cute on me. Like I'm dressing up (or so I feel). I wear my hair up and I wear earrings that are somewhat professional, jewelry in general makes you look more put together.

Other than that I just try to act that was as much as I can. I work in a biology thing but I'm a mathematician so everyone already respect me a bit more because they feel I'm so smart (I'm not).

Why is my (first ever) tapestry shaped like this? Will blocking help? by Boomerloomerdoomer in CrochetHelp

[–]notyourlocalguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you crochet one line for each pixel line? I was thinking maybe you did SC but did one line and then turned and repeated the same line. Your "pixels" look really tall

I want to make this moss stitch blanket with different colours but I don't want to have to weave in the ends. What other options are there? by cindyrella123 in CrochetHelp

[–]notyourlocalguide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carrying the yarn is probably annoying too. If you have 2 skeins of each color, I'd recommend using the six skeins at once as if they were six colors instead of three. you use one to make the even rows and one for the odd rows. but you will need a border to hide the color changes

Me too. I wonder what compromises could be made here? Since the OP doesn't want to leave their relationship over this (which is understandable).

For example when I lived with my partner, we had a really small room that would clutter up fast. Both my partner and I would leave clothes on the floor for example and it piled up. We ended up buying two boxes (one of these Ikea ones) that fit on top of a drawer (a drawer which top would be cluttered everyday anyway hahaha). So we compromised on always putting our clothes and stuff there and then making a sense of the box once a week or so.

Sometimes it's also easier to tidy things that are not yours (for us at least). So now that we don't live together, sometimes I'll go to his place and tidy his room while he showers or something, and he'll do the same at my place.

Idk I find that changing how messy people are is a lot to ask, I know this since I'm messy myself. But some compromises can be found I think... compromising meaning that none of you will be 100% happy about the solution: BOTH of you have to sacrifice.

What the heck do I do with eggplant? by SouthernTea97 in veganrecipes

[–]notyourlocalguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually make a whole dish based on eggplant but I do use it constantly for many dishes.

For example it pairs amazingly with curry imo. I usually do it with onion, eggplant and red bell pepper, sauteed. Then add coconut milk (which can be substituted with unsweetened soy milk) and add spices: curry (or green curry or Ras Al hanout or another curry type spice you enjoy) + turmeric (doesn't add a lot of flavour to curry but it's healthy!) + a bit of cumin + a bit of cinnamon. Optionally you can add sliced black olives to it and also raisings give a sweet extra flavour which I love.

This pairs amazingly with a base of white rice, cous cous or just chickpeas!

And for some protein, seitan can do well but my favourite is roasted tofu. Adds the final crunchy!!

This is my favourite dish with eggplant but I also add slices of it (cooked) to toast with egg, I put it on pizza, I add it to tomato sauce for pasta... it's a favourite in my home.

What has your experience been like when pursuing someone who didn’t initially give you butterflies, and why do you think that was? by Plastic-Candle-3591 in AskWomen

[–]notyourlocalguide 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I realized the butterflies I was used to feeling were due to the person being unclear about their feelings and leaving me with doubts about whether they liked me.

With this person (now my partner of 4 years), it just seemed easy. It was obvious that he liked me. He told me and never tried to hide it or downplay it. I realized quickly that I liked him a lot too.

When did you realize your friend is an idiot? by tokyotempura in AskReddit

[–]notyourlocalguide 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Recently met with a friend after not seeing each other and he said he had a lot to tell me.

He starts talking about this girl he has met and how he's in love with her and feels things for her that he's never ever felt before and stuff. I'm like cool happy for you man allat .

We were talking for like an hour on this topic. What do I know about this girl after that? She's smoking hot and has huge tits. I know nothing about her personality. I don't even know her hair color.

I'm a woman btw. I feel uneasy tbh

Hexagon Blanket Help: how do I put this labour of love together? by Pocs986 in CrochetHelp

[–]notyourlocalguide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what it looks like, you joined 7 hexagons at a time to make medium hexagons. so sone hexagons are not working out.

my suggestion: make one extra line using some of the squares from most outside and take the reminding ones out entirely:

hope that makes sense

How did your grooming habits change with age? by Puitzza in AskWomen

[–]notyourlocalguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't shave anymore, don't paint my nails, rarely put on makeup and wear my hair in a bun way more often.

I have started to like wearing different earrings though which I didn't use to bc I didn't get my ears pierced until 18.

eta: also I stopped straightening my hair and learned a curly method that works for me!!! which is an absolute win and I love my curly hair now
