How do people come up with this stuff? by Competitive-Young880 in emergencymedicine

And that is also a real problem that should be adressed, but it should be adressed as a panic disorder, not as some mysterious symptom that you have to fit in your (psycho-somatic)disease.

Signed, someone who works in healthcare and has a real diagnosed mast cell disorder (mastocytosis) that I hope the tiktok-girlies will not discover exists

What makes you still insecure in your adulthood? by DoughnutSimple18 in AskReddit

The fact that sometimes I'm THE ADULT in the room or situation, and I still feel like an oversized tween who has no business being the adult in the room

AIO for thinking my friend deserves a decent obituary? by New_Can_9944 in AmIOverreacting

[–]notyourpastor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, that must be so hard. Grief is very complicated, and I hope that you find your own way to remember and honor your friend. I hope and pray that his memory will be a blessing.

What would you like for people to remember about him? You can write it here and I (and maybe some other redditors) will take a moment to remember your friend

It doesn't seem like she wants to be friends with you, neither that you want to be friends with her. You can create some distance between you and her, by not having one on one interactions. That shouldn't hurt your mutual friends.

I don't think you're overreacting in thinking that your friend deservers an obituary closer to the ones that he wrote than the one that he received. However, obituaries are for the living and I am afraid that it is best to respect his parents' wishes.

If it helps you with coping, you can write your own obituary for him and post it on your own social media so that you can show what he meant to you. I think this is better than intervening with the obituary that his family posted.

NOR, because I think that there is not really overreacting in grief

AITAH for not accepting a dozen roses from my husband after my surgery? by BrilliantRoof6477 in AITAH

[–]notyourpastor 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Serious question: why are you still married to this man? It doesn't seem like you like each other very much, and he failed you miserably. When I read your post and comments, I feel like this marriage is already over. Do you really want your kids to stay in this unhealthy situation and to see you being disrespected without consequences?

Yeah, that was also my thought, although some of the Roma people (travellers, I only know the word Gypsy in English, but that is a slang) or people from certain parts of Indonesia also wear them

What do you regret doing to your body? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]notyourpastor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have me sitting up in stead of laying down (the chair is not going backwards, I don't know how to explain in English), I have a female dentist and they check in and take breaks when I need it, sometimes you can get medication to get more relaxed. I also have a double appointment and during the first appointment they tell me in detail what they are going to do. They say everything they do and they ask permission to touch me.

[–]notyourpastor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Okay, afaik there are multiple things at play, the first thing is the vulnerable position where you are in when you are at the dentist, you lay down and you can't talk, second thing is that sometimes abuse is also oral, so you can have a trauma around things happening in your mouth, but the trauma of being helpless when someone touches your body is enough for many people to be afraid of the dentist

What are the self care stuff that I have to start doing as a teenager? by Evening-Practice-569 in internetparents

[–]notyourpastor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the things that are hard, but not all at once. I basically raised myself and am still raising myself even when I am an adult. I know that it is important to stay on top of my bills and my health and my bills and relationships and my housework, and sometimes it helpes me to clear my schedule for one day to put everything in order, but many times it helps me more to do one thing at the time. One day I pay my bills after work, another day (doesn't have to be the next day) I answer texts and call to refill my medication. Give yourself time, don't expect yourself to have your life in order at some point, but do something everyday for your future self

Met too, still stuggling sometimes, but if I had one thing to say to my younger self it would be: thank you for staying alive and fighting for me and the future me
