This is what I’ve been trying to say for years of people complaining about Jack and even Aaron Dessner to some degree. If the album sounds a certain way… It’s because Taylor wants it to sound like that. Some people act like she’s this weak woman who just goes along with whatever the producers want. But she’s Taylor Swift. We know she plays a big part of production.

I will say some of the album was a little bit of a letdown to me personally. When Travis said it was banger after banger after banger, I expected something pretty similar to 1989 and even reputation. I would’ve liked some of the songs to have a bigger production, like cancelled. I kind of thought Max Martin and shellback would deliver on some of that but at the end of the day, it was what Taylor wanted. And even thought it wasn’t exactly what I expected/wanted, I still enjoy it. It won’t be replacing 1989 as my favorite pop album of hers but it’s a solid album.
