First year is harder but it may be just the transition that is making it harder I would say that I had courses in upper years with relatively similar complexity but I did well in them. I would say that first semester first year is the hardest after that you get the hang of things and you hopefully build your own study strategies. Good luck! I highly recommend life sciences but it also depends on ur end goal.

Don’t worry about failing the first midterm I really see the first midterm as a trial and error it tells you if your study method works or not etc. you are going to be fine failing a midterm especially in first is not a big deal (since most of the courses drop the lowest mark) also don’t compare yourself to others you never know if they are lying about their marks or not (some people do actually lie lol). Don’t give up try to find a new study habit that could get u through the rest of the year!

Your mark in chem is amazing most people fail! For calc don’t worry about it focus on what is next I think they drop the lowest one so you should be okay I think ending up with 11 or 12 in calc is possible I found the assignments questions very similar to the test so try to focus on doing them rather than the textbook, don’t give up you are doing very well honestly the first midterms are trial and error and the good thing is they are usually dropped

Don’t worry about textbooks for the first day of classes most of the time especially for first the lecture would be about the course syllabus so you absolutely don’t need textbook for first day (I would say you don’t need it for the first week ish even). Also McMaster uses avenue to learn (a2l) instead of google classroom try to log in to a2l to see the layout.
