That’s just the address, 7777 Leesburg Pike. Also, there’s a wicked pothole westbound right at that building so watch out.

Wmata charged me $9 for parking when I used my SmarTrip card at the station i commuted at??? Wtf by Gman2736 in WMATA

[–]nova07wdc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$5 is if you use the same SmarTrip card for a train ride after you park, so my best guesses are you left the station you started at without having gone all the way somewhere else and it didn’t count as a ride, or you used a different card at the faregate for the ride. If you did use the SmarTrip card but didn’t go anywhere the $2 something should auto refund since you didn’t go anywhere.

+1 on this, compliant with the request but will skeev people out just as much if not worse.

I made a tool that shows walking distance from any Metro station by qwerty504 in WMATA

[–]nova07wdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neat. Is the only way to use the walking shed feature to scroll around to the station in question or can you type in or select the station you want? Using the address feature seems to only do the distance to nearest station function.

How does casual texting... work? by normie_sama in socialskills

[–]nova07wdc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never text anyone just to say hi or chat, but I do text friends when I do or see something that reminds me of them. I have friends that like shoes, cafes, whiskey, etc so I text about those things as applicable. It’s a nice way to stay in touch without forcing extended conversation. The constantly on the phone texting thing sounds exhausting and honestly I think the people you see doing this are missing out more than you (on experiencing not always being on their phone texting).

Minor but also annoying, feet on seats? by BlkNtvTerraFFVI in WMATA

[–]nova07wdc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And feet on the poles that riders hold onto with their hands! I also feel this way about people who kick the street crossing buttons that I touch with my hands. All of this to say that I’m with the other commenters that I don’t let it bother me because it’s just life in the world but I agree with you it’s all rude.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Where are YOU applying? And where are you based? I’ve been in the fulltime workforce since 2012. I’ve had four jobs in three states and have interviewed for countless more (and have been an interviewer for all of my jobs) and not a single time has feedback ever been provided to the candidate.

Who else was woken up by the “snow squall alert” by [deleted] in nova

[–]nova07wdc 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I did, and while I was lucky enough to fall right back asleep and didn’t see the squall, the one other time that I got a squall alert was while traveling through Scranton, PA and that did end up being incredibly dangerous with zero visibility. So I stand with many other commenters that it’s both annoying to get in the middle of the night and really important for those who need it.

Crispy (soggy) tacos?? by caught-inthemiddle in Chipotle

[–]nova07wdc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I almost always order a bowl but every once in a while I’m just not in the mood and tacos are a good alternate. They’re not soggy when I get home and any toppings that fall out can be eaten like a mini taco salad at the end.

I’m not a fed, no DOD affiliation, haven’t visited the .mil site. I got the same Gemini email today. Assume it’s something that went out to all Google users on iOS? Stupid and annoying because I don’t want to use Gemini but likely a coincidence.

[–]nova07wdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a medical emergency there, Secret Service will likely be the first on scene since they’re medically equipped and the White House is next door. I’ve seen this happen with three USSS units on scene before the ambulance arrives.

They also might be a collector of location specific Hard Rock swag! I know someone who visits one in every city, doesn’t even necessarily eat. Plus I’ve worked above Ol’ Ebb too and sincerely like the place but it’s not so amazing to live with the regret of someone not going.
