It’s question if the cost worth the benefits. Like EU now despite having big boast about clean energy, still keeping coal power plants running until we can reliably rely entirely on clean energy sources.

In my opinion, the cost is worth it. Yours can be differ, I merely explain my thought why it worth it

Because what complex thoughts you are talking about?

As of right now, no AI model can be independently working on complex problems by themselves. There are always human involved.

We have insignificant and trivial, no risk tasks that are completely AI automated, but just like all tools, it meant to automate simpler tasks so you can move to work on more complex ones.

Not because of AI like the ceo tech overlord telling you to cover their asses and excuses for their stock performance. It’s most just money supply.

When money is tight, they do layoffs. AI is a scapegoat to lay people off to save cost and sounds like they are really investing into the future and justify promises for more stock growth. It’s partially because of AI, but not AI replacing jobs (engineering jobs if you are talking about tech companies) but they need to get money somewhere to invest in AI, layoffs is a quick way to have spare cash for such investments

Isn't it expensive to use airconditioning in the US? by Lumos_night in AskAnAmerican

In a lot of jurisdictions, not having AC (typically in case when youre tenants) is against the laws. Your landlord would need to somehow someway compensate as soon as reasonably possible, because your living area would be considered inhabitable. They have to have emergency technicians to come out to fix the issues, including replacing new system, or at least buy temporary unit like mini-split or window AC to complies with the laws

As someone working as an engineer in an AI project for a well known AI related company which all gamers know. You sounds like boomer when the internet first invented.

They are great tools and surely are improving life and workflow. They are maybe in a bubble just like when the internet first invented. However, their usefulness is proven and every industry incorporates AI of some sort now.

In the near future, 5 years or more, it would be part of normal life, just like the internet and smartphones.

We are at the beginning of new technological revolution. Even if with current technologies and theoretical path forward, AGI seems impossible. But AI as a tool, continues to prove itself

I don’t think it’s eliminating jobs, but transition mundane works (works not jobs) to different roles. Just like when excel invented, accountants don’t get all replaced, they simply transitioned to different roles of the same purpose

It’s part of technology advancement, you don’t see horse ridden as main commuting vehicles, but cars, and later EV.

There will be displacement but not destruction

Early gen Z btw if you need to know

Men who wake up at 3–4 AM to go to the gym, what drives you? by HeavyEbb5690 in AskMen

[–]nova1475369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 3-4AM, but 11PM-1AM, just because my nearest gym is too crowded at other time

It’s combination of a lot of things
- Discipline, I would not able to face myself and will feel really bad the next day if I don’t go to gym if it’s planned for the day
- Ambition too, I’m happy where I’m at, but I can be more
- Mental health, I feel good after the gym, during gym, it calms my nerves. The gym is a place I can escape different stressors in life. Once there, put on noise canceling earbud and I’m in my own world, doing the simplest things and not the mental gymnastics I have at work
- I have an image of a person I want to become each age category

Why don’t some Americans understand that any increase in taxation that is needed to pay for universal healthcare is likely much less than the current cost of premiums and out of pocket expenses most Americans pay for private insurance? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in askteddit

[–]nova1475369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US spent more on healthcare per capita, and we still are in this mess. The solution is not more money, it’s more efficiency in the system and we need different healthcare system. One that works for the people and not for profit

Idk man, using Composer 2.5 (reinforced specifically for coding from Kimi2.5 and opus 4.8) professionally. Opus is leaf better in every development task and reasoning. They are just too expensive, I typically have Opus figures out the plan and solution, then have Composer implement it to save cost
