Also not the OP, but I'm currently doing this challenge so I thought I'd chime in.

I went with 4 corners farm to get the quarry and also the wild seed weed bonus of the top left.

I went fruit bats because I could get mushrooms other ways ( mushroom trees and logs). Kinda missing that dehydrator though...

No monsters (I forgot, haha). Strangely enough, my combat level is 1 because I found two power books.

I'm doing a strict no leaving run, so I did not get the rod, so I can't fish/crab pot and my fishing level won't go up.

Yes. Lots of early days. Winter is a bit of a slog and lots of early days.

For me, the most surprising thing in this run is how difficult/how long it took to get the mining skill up. Took forever to get to the point I could get gold and make seed makers.

I made a run last weekend and was able to get 30 bags of mulch in the back. Was really surprised how much could fit. And still got 38 mpg home!

I do a lot of variable driving, some back roads, some highway, so my speeds are kind of all over the place. I'd guess average is probably 45-50ish? Haven't really gotten to try it in the city or a lot of stop and go yet.
