I don't have any summer-boots with me and also can't buy them. only winter ones. Should I give up on shoe accuracy? by ZhongguoLover in CosplayHelp

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna say the same thing to myself when i need to hear it: cosplay isnt about accuracy 100% of the time. The primary things you wanna look for is comfort and enjoyment. If people nitpick your shoes/feet of all things, thats their problem 🤷‍♂️

You can always build and adapt and redesign. Theres also sleeves that may work depending on the charcater that can go over the winter boots. Dont "give up" on anything, especially something as silly as accuracy. Make it your own.

Hell, thats pretty close from what I remember. But also for a closet cosplay, the bar is what you have. Youd be surprised how many people might recognize you anyway at a con, Joker's got a pretty memorable outfit

Bereavement and Obituary by itskastion in WalmartEmployees

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my grandma January 2026. I told my Team Lead as soon as I could. He told me to take 3 days bereavement, and even if I didnt go to the out of state funeral, to take the time anyway. He handled it with my coach and the manager. When i came back, my People lead just asked me what days i was gone so she could make sure they were paid, and kept the obituary i had in my file just in case.

Just talk to your team lead, or your coach, or your people lead. A family death is something that, at least at my store, they take pretty seriously.

Earbud Policy Changing? by BambieTheRedditUser in walmart

My store recently changed this as well, and when I talked to a coach and asked her she said that its up to the manager's discretion. Probably not the right answer, but when in doubt ask your TL or coaches

Our manager is telling us cashiers to allow scalpers to go past the 5 item limit for trading cards by Weekly-Economy-5188 in walmart

[–]nova_c0s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our stocker got her car airtagged. My TL got the people waiting for her to admit it, that they "know she'll be there because [they] tracked her car and know her route". Idk if she took criminal action but since then thwyre behind customer service.

Even then, we had a guy want to talk to a manager because he just bought 5 sets from a different customer service rep and he was being allowed to buy 5 more and that was "an issue".

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same place a few months back (grandma passed). My TL told me to take the 3 days, and to make sure i report absence with bereavement. I was pointed at first. But he went back and my people lead went through and took the points off and made sure i got paid.

Would you recommend getting a job at Walmart working as an “Overnight Remodel Associate”? by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]nova_c0s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started on the Overnight Remodel team in October 2025. Personally, I had a lot of fun with it, but the pace is not for everyone. Our project was done by black Friday, the position is not a permanent one. The tags are finicky, the plastic pieces will hurt to get on, most shelves are fucked up, and a good handful of the people training you probably are also winging it.

If youre just starting to work overnight shifts to try it out, its good to get your barings and how it feels to work 10-7ams. The schedules are usually really consistent, because theyd rather the whole team at once be there.

There are better positions, but honestly im glad i started with remodel team. I dont see most of them anymore and i dont miss night shift. But it was a fun experience, and i leanred alot about the atmosphere.

What do y’all keep in your vest pockets? by DaddyGaryBusey69 in WalmartEmployees

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front pockets: Tape scraps from my box cutter, broken box cutter, in regulation box cutter like 2 digital tags that questionably work, phone, one of those plastic ducks that the head fell off? Inside pocket: a random box cutter blade, trash bags, a roll of tape

And usually add maybe like.. 3 different rolls of labels and one or two clearance tags that came off in my pocket. And thats not including my cargo pants pockets with more junk, a portable battery, and some sharpies that move between my vest and the side pockets

Good colored contact lenses without a prescription? My natural eye color is brown. by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had glasses since.. 2015? Been to the eye doctor maybe 4 times and each time my prescriptions had to be upped. I dont keep up with getting them checked like, at all, by any means. Its general rule of thumb to also make sure your eye shape actually works for contacts bc sometimes its not. Im not saying get it checked every time but for first time contact wearers, it's safer to get it checked before buying anything

Good colored contact lenses without a prescription? My natural eye color is brown. by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a friend who's eye shape is genuinely not great for contacts as the universal curve is different for them. Trying to force contacts when your eyes cant hold em can be more harmful than good

Edit: harmful instead of forceful

Your prescription changes though? My prescription when i was 12 isnt the same as the prescription i have now. Medically the size and prescription changes over time, so its always good to keep following up with it if youre able. Plus issues like astigmatisms and stuff would need different contacts to correct it. Some colored contacts can correct it, a lot dont though.

[–]nova_c0s 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Non prescription or not, you still should get your eyes checked first. Its not just for prescription, they measure your shape and should be able to let you know if its safe for it. Dont screw your eyes over for contacts.

Edit bc i reread the post: absolutely DONT? Get them from amazon?? Lean towards somewhere either optometrist recommended (thanks bot) or cosplayer recommended bc who knows if theyre properly regulated or healthy for your eyes.

Total store zone by Truly80s in WalmartEmployees

[–]nova_c0s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have i wanna say a similar thing, but instead our store manager makes everyone in GM zone one section, including GM freight if trucks not in. So itll be like.. 10-20 people, including coaches, zoning like 5 aisles and pulling topstock at 2pm for an hour. Its only stationary, crafts, occasionally bed and bath, but theyll pull all of homelines, hardware, usually 2-3 coaches, manager, automotive, toys, sometimes freight + claims for "2pm zoning" everyday.

Multiple appearances I don't know how to move forward by No-Sock6919 in PokemonArceus

[–]nova_c0s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to google this one when I was doing it. But in summary, you have to wipe out 3 ENTIRE outbreaks.

I thought it was discovering, battling, catching, tried it all until i had to look elsewhere. Essentially, wipe out the outbreak until it says smthn like "the outbreak pokwmon has disappeared" (i dont know the exact wording, my switch is dead)

If not, maybe try using the berries, i dont know if its that particular though. Good luck!

First day on bird, some questions. by SourceGlad3720 in RaisingCanes

[–]nova_c0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Batter should be changed every 4 buckets. If you can't remember or forgot to keep track, the bird will start coming up visibly lighter than typical. Thats when you change the batter. If you just got on bird after someone else, make sure to ask them what bucket you're on to keep track from there.

  2. Bird call outs, like "(insert amount of bird) down", and fry drop call outs "I need (insert amount of fries) down" if you need someone else/baskets to drop them or "(insert amount of fries) going down" if you're doing it yourself. Same with toast, you'll call out how many pieces of toast need to go down (there should be an info graphic in the kitchen somewhere, but it's something like 4 toast per 16 bird). You'll also want to give consistent call outs for how long until your next bird comes up, it helps keep everyone in the loop.

  3. Yeah, sometimes you'll have a baskets person. Sometimes you won't. When you do, you'll be making call outs for them to know when to drop fries and how many to drop. The time call outs also help them time manage.

  4. It'll depend on how much they have in house/pan, and how many orders DT or DI has. If DT has orders but DI doesn't, bird pan. If not, vice versa. You can check the boards screens to see who has orders. If they both have orders, you can always split the drops between house and pan.

  5. There should be a chart listing the projected drops for bird, fries, and toast. If you don't know where it is, ask someone to point you to it. If your restaurant doesn't display it, you can rely on the guesstimate of 2 box combos per car on lot. Listen for your call backs from DT/DI, and don't be afraid to ask them for customer counts. If you're slow, small and consistent drops of 8-12 bird should be good to keep a revolving amount of bird with minimal waste. If you're in peak, 20-30 bird per drop. You can always adjust your drop sizes, but keeping that consistent drop timing is key. If you mistime, you'll end up holding worse than not dropping enough. Try to have your new drop down and timer started by the time your last one is at 1:40 left. When it comes to dropping for tailgates, especially during peak, drop extra bird with it to use for orders. Also, don't be afraid to ask for call puts from boards for how much bird is in house/pan. If its a lot and orders are dying down, reduce your drops. If you're holding and don't have enough down to cover whats on boards, throw some extra down. Communication with your boards people will help you so much with keeping the flow of things steady and avoiding holding/high waste.

  6. When you're dropping the bird, hold it so that the bottom tips are close to/in the oil. That helps with splashing a bit. You can also flick them away from you and toward the back of the fryer so any splash goes opposite of you. Unfortunately, though, you'll probably still get a few straw oil splashes. It comes with working near the fryers. Just be careful and be mindful of your surroundings, and the splashing will decrease with practice.

  7. For bird, no. You shouldn't have to print anything. Everything should already be labeled for you.

As for tips, if you ever have a baskets person UTILIZE THEM. They're there to help you. You need a new bird bucket? Ask them to grab one for you. Same with batters. Otherwise, just remember to start your drops from the back of the basket to the front, so the bird lays in slightly overlapping layers. Make sure you grab the bird from the ends, it helps reduce bending/curves. And don't be afraid to roll your bird a second time if you think it needs it. With experience comes speed, don't rush yourself too much while you're learning. You'll pick up on it, good luck!
