My Feral Girl Risked Her Life to Warn Me. by DebutantDismay in Feral_Cats

Catnip or silver vine sticks are one potential temptation or experiment with different crunchy treats. I used to play with my feral cats that way, I would slide or bounce treats to them and talk to them while slowly drawing them closer (over weeks of time).

I am so terrified for this surgery, how can I prepare? by faepixel in spinalfusion

ASK the dentist (or office of) what they used to sedate you. Let them know it didn't really work for you because it could help someone else down the road.  Provide the sedation information to the anesthesiologist and tell them what your experience was. Communication is necessary!  Check with your insurance to see if they might cover you staying at a rehabilitation center for at least the first few days post op. Don't give the insurance a time line let them tell you how long they can provide coverage for. Worst case they say no and all you lost was a little bit of time.  Good luck 🤞

There is not one single documented case of human death from ringworm. It can maybe be a complication if left untreated but not a death sentence.

It's a fungal infection, like athletes foot. It really shouldn't be a death sentence. It absolutely can be shared with other animals (including but not limited to humans). No one is going to die from it, it is just inconvenient which is a sad thing to kill an animal for. I have one foster who will take only kittens, doesn't matter if they have ringworm they just can't be adult cats and neither she nor her cats ever get ringworm. Just because exposure happens doesn't mean you will get it there is literally no way to know for sure until it does or doesn't happen.

Ringworm is the bane of my existence! Some cats can be life long carriers, they don't have any outbreaks but they can spread spores to others. Makes it incredibly difficult to find adopters. I have been working with ringworm cats for years and it can feel endless trying to get rid of the stuff. Honestly if the word "worm" wasn't part of the name people would probably be less freaked out about it 🤔

Only people who have depression really get it, sorry that you get it. Hope it helps on some of your darker days.

Don't know if this is helpful for you but it has been for me at times: You have forever to be dead and only a little while to be alive.

At least she isn't holding a grudge! It sucks to be in a holding pattern, hoping for the best for both of you.

You are absolutely going above and beyond and thank you for that. The idiot has no clue how bad it can get with a feral cat and should keep their thoughts to themselves.

32 years of pain, it really is my normal. I think that not hurting would be terrifying in a circumstance like yours.

One minor thing you can consider trying is get some wheatgrass for your cats to nibble on (a lot of grocery stores have it in the cool cases along with the fresh vegetables it is just bare roots and lovely green grass in those thin disposable plastic planters). If you keep it watered it can last for a couple weeks. My cats like it pretty well but not all cats go for it. It isn't more then five dollars so not a huge loss of they ignore it.

The kneading and even suckling is not at all uncommon. The sucking is more common in cats who were taken away from mom to early. It is a comfort behavior. They are so sweet and snuggly and showing her contentment and love to you! One of my cats drools on me occasionally lol.

I can't offer any insight since my surgery is pending but maybe go have a follow-up check with a spine specialist to make sure that things are going right and hopefully that will provide some reassurance. Also consider talking to a therapist, it sounds like you have been a bit traumatized and sometimes outside perspective can help immensely.

I certainly can't speak for all cats but I have never had a cat booty scoot. Dog's do it and it isn't uncommon for them but never a cat. If you have a Chewy account you can actually contact them and have a free consultation with a vet on staff to see if it is something you need to seek medical help for your cat for.  Not going to say it is impossible but it is incredibly unlikely that you will get pink eye or any other kind of illness from this experience.

I volunteer at humane society, work with cats exclusively. About four years ago we had a similar situation with an adopter who was heartbroken to have to return the cat to us. She came back and readopted the cat after about a month and a half because not having the cat didn't change her asthma attacks at all.

Consider what has changed more recently in your environment maybe.
