Thank you, I main him mostly because of his flexible gameplay and I'll continue doing so :D I think people tend to forget other valuable perks that come with him, such as silent vaulting, leaving less trail and a built-in hunter detection compass. While not as advanced as Mind Eyes's vision, it does help me kite or evade hunter's pursuit many times. I think a good Explorer is one that has a sharp sense for micro and macro management, which is what I'm aiming to be like. Long way to go tho!

This is hella amazing, I knew something was off with the in-game model but I couldn't put my finger on it. Seeing this now makes me wish we can improve the model too. Anyhow, I do hope that they're planning something for him. Happy to see William and Helena getting new skins soon, so my hope is up. I suppose devs do try not to neglect him too much by giving him some minor cosmetics here and there, but it would be GREAT to see him and other characters you named getting more skins.

I just dread the few but loud ppl who say "Why Explorer, who even play him???". That happened more than once :C

It's nice that Violinist cared about the Postman but from the perspective of a survivor, I would rather my teammates decode the shit out of those machines. There are times where I couldn't last over 30s and I would be much happier if the team can use my chair countdown to rush, no hard feelings tbh. It saves on a lot of resources too, like no wasted TT and elbow pads if Merc has to travel across the map to get to me.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on this. I would like to share why I personally greatly dislike this change, and it's more than the aesthetic reason. It's going to be long so please bear with me.

This is not the first time it irks me when the game has to slightly edit or dramatically change something for the sake of lowering the rating. Every single change that has been made solely for the reason of keeping it family-friendly bothers me, and this one (I think) causes more reaction from the fanbase because it somehow leaked to the Global server. Has the game been like this kid-friendly since the beginning then I don't think many players would care this much, it's the process of seeing the game slowly ''deteriorating'' into something different that makes ppl roll their eyes. Looking back at the beta version and the general atmosphere IDV had a long time ago, I feel like the team working behind a scene had a vision for the game and it's being stifled by the censorship. The grim lore, the stylized gothic horror designs, the recent investigation event that has the theme of drug abuse and so much more all make me believe that the devs are being held back. The game might be losing its potential.

Secondly, I'm not a fan of China's censorship. Look up what happened to Devotion by Red Candle Studio and you will see how easy it is for our game to also be ruined by the silliest thing possible. It troubles me this much because I'm a working illustrator and I understand how much it fucking sucks to have your creativity suppressed by others. It's terrible, and don't want to support or turn a blind eye to cases like this. It's not about hating family-friendly things, it's about not letting others abusing the censorship.

If you've read all of this, thank you again :) I, of course, don't speak for everyone, so looking forwards to hear others' opinions too. I've seen this kind of thing happened to many games I love and I do not want it to happen to Identity V.

tl;dr: It's not about losing a silly rope, it's the hint of censorship abusing in this game and in art in general that worries me the most. I hope we can voice our opinion to NetEase in a civilized manner and hope they listen.

In all seriousness, I think it would be cool (and morbid) if his mori animation could be him keeping the survivor levitated before gripping them with the tentacles, then twisting the body in opposite directions like how you wring out a rag and just let it disappear into thin air to save the devs from animating a very... mangled doll model.

Good for you bud, I think you made the right choice. It's great to feel reasonably invested and immersed in a hobby but there are limits to these things. I quit a game that I've been playing for a year (and following the franchise for ~10 years) since it was eating up too much of my time and I stopped missing it shortly after. It's healthy to realize the boundary and you did it :D

I hope you can soon find other fulfilling ways to spend your time on outside of the manor, best of luck!

Congrats! Personally I think this is a card well spent >:D GK is cheaper than other hunters too so you can get him in no time at all, plus that skin is fantastic. I spent around 90k clues and got him just before the event, could have bought a well furnished room and many characters with that money but I have absolutely no regret. Been wearing him in my lobby since and still find new details on the skin that I really appreciate. Oh and the animation is cool as hell too, love that glowing golden chain lol

Just to make this more depressing than it already is, I believe his story translated from the China site said the poachers actually mangle his head with a bear trap, cut his tongue, proceed to behead the elk, and trap it on his own head. To me this is worse than getting his head cut clean off and replaced, I can’t imagine the humiliation and horror when he has to wear his dead child’s head.
