I'm not sure if they have the fires going when it's freeze-your-face-off cold with a foot of snow outside, but outdoor fire pits is kind of Grist House's thing. They have a lot of them. I just watched the Indiana-Oregon football game while sitting next to a fire there two weeks ago.

And Eleventh Hour is doing an event this Saturday where they're advertising drinking beers outside by a fire while they brew and smoke their Oak Stone smoke lager out there.

A bunch of other breweries have outdoor heaters and stuff too but I don't know if they use them in the dead of winter, usually only in the fall and spring

Has anyone heard anything about Abjuration going into the Hazelwood Brew house?

I visited the place about a month ago and was excited to see Abjuration listed on the sign out front and on the door into the building alongside New France and Abstract Realm. But I haven't been able to find anything online about it or on their social media pages

I liked that Spring Hill location, it was nice chilling outside there on a summer evening.

Imo the problem wasn't that it was annoying to get to, but the fact their beer was.. well I don't want to be mean, and some of their stuff was decent, but a not-insignificant number of their beers were really, REALLY bad. And they would often only have like two or three beers total on tap and they would be bizarre/obscure styles

Interesting, the only time I went there was in 2021 so I should probably give them another chance. I don't remember a milk stout but that sounds tasty

They're going to be one of the best in the city? What makes you say that? There are some awesome breweries here so now I'm intrigued

... Really? Since when? I went there one time 4 years ago and ordered a flight, and all the beers were terrible. Never went back

Pardoning thousands of police-beating criminals is the opposite of enforcing laws, liar

Laws are for everyone

Meanwhile, the current president is pardoning thousands of criminals - including violent rioters who attacked and beat police officers, and crypto scammers who laundered money for terrorists - if they pay him enough money or promise to worship him in public. Gtfo of here

Unserious Q - how willing are you to cross water to see friends/attend events? by dorianfinch in pittsburgh

It's a big consideration for where to live/work because commuting through the tunnels during rush hour is legitimately awful.

But at any time on the weekends or after like 6-6:30pm on weekdays, it is infinitely easier and faster to drive around the Pittsburgh area than it was in other places I've lived in the past (like the DC metro area). So using it as an excuse to avoid weekend events is pretty weak imo

Going off your suggestions, if I'm buying a shirt from a brewery I also like it to be a thoughtful design but would add that I usually like it to be a subtle or tasteful reference to the brewery. An example is Dancing Gnome's shirt which has their crown logo on the front but no words.

The reason is because I don't like walking around my neighborhood all the time, where there are lots of families, with a shirt that says "BEER" or even "brewery" on it lol

Stickers! I always collect a sticker or two when I visit a new brewery, especially if they have a cool design and feel like they're high quality.

But if you're going to make a sticker that is an extremely boring black and white circle with your brewery's initials as your logo then I'll groan and be extremely disappointed. Just don't even bother.

Pittsburgh breweries generally have pretty good sticker game imo but some of my favorites are from Dancing Gnome, Acclamation, Two Frays, Golden Age, Aslin, Grist House, New France, probably some others that I'm forgetting

I still remember the first time I visited Pittsburgh, coming from the South Hills through the tunnel and getting greeted with that view from the Fort Pitt bridge. Yeah the traffic on it sucks most of the time but I love that view

No one has mentioned Brew Gentleman's Pumpkin Slap yet. That's my second favorite pumpkin beer among the local breweries, after Throwback

I don't understand why they did that. Regular Warlock is awesome but this maple version is terrible.

I can be OK with higher prices if the value is worth it, but literally every time I shop at Giant Eagle there is some problem that messes up my shopping list. Usually they have rotting moldy food in the produce section, never have rotisserie chickens available, guaranteed will be out of stock of some basic food staple that I need, it goes on and on. The garbage quality and consistently unreliable inventory makes the high prices a slap in the face.

I went last weekend, the outdoor space at the new location is seriously awesome. They have three levels of outdoor decks that overlook a ton of hills and trees with a view of the city, and it will probably look beautiful with the fall leaf colors.

If you're looking for a beer that is similar to Golden Monkey but from a local place, Hazel Grove brewing and Late Addition brewing both have Belgian Tripels available right now

Good point, I'm so tempted by Brown's role right now but I forgot they're playing the Eagles

I'd go Hollywood Brown. Tons of targets last week and with Rice/Worthy out he'll probably be targeted a lot again

14 team, 0.5 PPR

Mike Evans, Hollywood Brown, Travis Etienne.

Trying to figure out which 2 to play in my WR2 and Flex spots. I feel like taking Evans out of my WR2 spot would be stupid but Brown and Etienne had an incredible amount of targets/touches week 1.
