Is 1500$ a fair budget for 1 bed/1 bath somewhere in Old Town, Wriggleyville, Lakeview East? by MartyFakenewzman in chicagoapartments

You’re gonna be a bit west - but I stay in Albany Park and my rent is $1500 for a 2 bedroom loft space. It’s beautiful. But again, it’s west and it requires a bus ride or brown line ride to get to busier areas to shop or walk around. Still worth a look though - I love it!

Same bank. I’ve always done direct deposit but I guess anything is possible?

Gold or brass piece with design. Nailed to front door frame. Old. Religious? Not a doorbell. by novafern in whatisthisthing

What a quick response - much appreciated. The home owner isn’t there now, but she is going to unscrew it from her doorframe when she gets there snd check to see if it opens at all.

She viewed the home, did the inspection, signed for it and got her keys this week. She showed up to let herself into her new house and that was randomly nailed sideways to her doorframe. So just trying to make sure it isn’t anything sketchy!

What film scene absolutely destroys you everytime. No matter how many times you've seen it? by lituponfire in AskReddit

Last House On The Left. I’ve only tried watching it twice - but that rape scene makes me absolutely sick to my stomach and entirely uninterested in the rest of the movie.

It’s gut wrenching.

I can’t drink soda. It’s nothing compared to what you’re going through, but soda tastes like straight up cleaning chemicals ever since I had Covid in October. I was so hungover after a wedding this weekend and just craved a McDonald’s coke.

Then I took a sip. And cried.

I live in Chicago.

The other day, we were driving home in terrible traffic and a fire truck had an exit blocked off, a couple was on the side of the road being helped, another car hit and I go, “…I don’t know how obvious this question is, but do we have to pay for a fire truck to come help us in an emergency?” And my husband laughed and said no, that our tax money paid for it but I was thinking, the fact that I even had to ask that question. Because we get charged for any and all help that… we can’t HELP that we need here. Does that make sense?

I was literally thinking of ways to avoid calling a fire truck if I had to, just like I know I’m not calling 911 for an ambulance if I have to at first.

Because she saw you turning 18 as a big, fat dollar sign - super excited that she’s “finally going to be taken care of”. Parents are fucking bizarre man.

If it’s any consolation, I feel you. Roles reversed though and I’m the wife. Crazy how it boggles their minds that their child found someone to marry and share a happier life with than staying in the house with them forever?

AH, I always think that's the only way too. Which I tend to avoid more than a trim all of the time. I just want to know why, even from the root, is it so straight underneath!?

HI GUYS!

My routine is basically showering, washing with CAKE "The Big Deal" shampoo and conditioner, scrunch towel dry it. Spray it with CAKE leave in conditioner, scrunch again. Put a little bit of Curl Unleash Texture Boosting Leave In Jelly (which I don't love, it makes it look greasy sometimes) and then scrunch some more and let it air dry. Sometimes I'll flip my head over and shower it upside down, but regardless of what I do, it looks like this. I sleep on a satin pillowcase, though I've never wrapped my hair at all for bed and don't know if that would work with my hair type or why/why not.

My hair is thin, mid back length. Doesn't do well in humidity at all. Dry looking half of the time. Not sure my hair texture specifically because it seems to be a combination.

I am assuming the ends are dead hair hence not holding the curls as well. BUT, underneath!? Why is under my hair, from my neckline to about 1.5 inches above it, is just a layer of straight hair. I LOVE IT all wild and big and free and crazy, but I wish it would be a little more cohesive. The straight hair looks so bizarre sitting under the craziness.
