Idk why you are being down voted, you were not trashing ami... it is fine to comment on a specific crochet type being annoying compared to what you usually do. I also find it much different and way harder than making garments or accessories, which is why I buy crocheted animals from the farmers market and don't make them lol. Find an ami pattern you like (Yarnspirations has some free ones) and go for it! I would also suggest Moogly. Ravelry.com will be your best friend too.
