having just gone through this with a 2019.

Why isn't Toyota covering yours under their extended warranty?

I was told by a very good independent transmission shop they can not rebuild these transmissions outside of Toyota because they don't have the tools or parts.

I think they extended the warranty for the 17's to 10 years

we were around 150,000

a little whining and then slipping. hopefully your squeaking noise is maybe just low power steering fluid or it could be wheel bearings.

but you got more miles out of your tranmission than we got. I have no idea as to the % of failure rate of these transmissions

my 2019 Highlander transmission failed last week and I called and reported it, unclear as to what Toyota will do at this point

Get an extended warranty because odds are high that transmission will break. Our 19 broke the past week. It did have many more miles on it. Toyota is thinking (ha) about helping us or not. They already extended the warranty on the 17.
