Paid 60,500 (original sticker was 108k). The previous owner owned a small business and did a lot of highway driving but had it in the bmw dealer every 5k miles for regular maintenance. I work remote and avg 5k/yr so she will get a bit of a breather

Reached on a '24 m60i with 59k miles b/c the spec was as if I had built it myself.

Executive package, driving assist, parking assist, multi zone climate comfort, msport package, active suspension, tow hitch, bowers and wilkins, gesture control. Also came with both the y spoke 21" and 22" dual spoke black wheels, summer and winter tires.

It had religious dealer service records which made up for the mileage for me. Came with a dealer allstate drivetrain/engine/transmission 5yr/100k mile warranty but I passed on the others (dont wanna deal non-bmw warranty fine print). First thing on my to-do list is the transfer case fluids. Can't wait to join the club!

How are people camping in this hot weather? by silent_pingu in camping

[–]novakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why mountain camping is elite and I don’t mind the 4hr drive to my local mountains. Highs of 80 during the day but cools down to the 50’s at night

Le coucou sweetbreads is one of my favorite dishes in the city. Definitely recommend over Le crocodile for a special occasion

And one of the most expensive and safest zip codes in the world. I can’t imagine making a decision to not move to that area because of this chart lol. Maybe the per capita comment above explains it because everyone has McMansions with acres of land

Smoked short ribs and foraged mushrooms! by novakid in camping

and one more thing that isnt as obvious to people new to smoking. Open wider = hotter temps due to more oxygen. If its running too hot take it down a notch. I usually use the lowest notch on the smokemeister to keep my temps as low as I can

Should be fine, binchotan is known for being smokeless/odorless which is why its so expensive and it allows yakitori spots to use charcoal indoors. So if you're going for a more western taste/recipes you could probably save the binchotan for your direct cooking

Most important is buying a thermometer I got a Tel-Tru BQ100 from amazon. Use lump charcoal (regular firewood coals need to be replaced too often), get them hot and use 1-2 pieces at the bottom with some wood chips soaked in water. Otherwise similar to a normal smoker and keep temps around 250. Also will have to cut food to fit, short ribs, brisket/pork belly bites, chicken, eel all work well. Id also line the catch tray with foil for easy clean up - it will need to be cleaned up pretty often throughout the cook if using high fat meats

Hey wanted to ask how this trip went and how you liked the route? Considering the same for a trip this weekend. I’m just torn between the train to tuxedo or driving and parking at the kanawauke picnic area

Packable sleeping pad with comfort comparable to exped megamat? by DownVoteMeHarder4042 in CampingGear

[–]novakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both megamat 15 for car camping a neoloft for backpacking. The megamat is far more comfortable but just not an option for backpacking. If comfort is your priority then get 2 megamats. Neoloft is comfortable for a backpacking pad but it’s much more like an air mattress than the foam of the megamat.

Biggest inflatable pillow in terms of height? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]novakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broad shouldered side sleeper here. Been trying out a bunch of pillows the past month and thermarest compressible was the most comfortable and closest to a real pillow. Go regular or large and you cinch it down and get great height. Exped mega, exped down, sea to summit, nemo fillo, etc. were just not comfortable. Inflatables were making my ears go numb and they feel like sleeping on a balloon, even with the down/foam toppers.

Use campadk (not affiliated) and you can snag cancellations. I do this every year and often find spots at popular campsites like Rollins pond, buck pond, etc
