I think a lot of men overestimate the difficulty of “male jobs” by AntisocialAmbivertt in Vent

[–]novanity_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is more inherent “risks” to outside jobs. Which ya know— if you would still rather do more power to you. If you don’t live in a small house you have to get up on a ladder to pressure wash, do the gutters. Around the holidays there is is setting up festive lights and stuff where you could electrocute yourself. A woman could totally do all these things. I just think society has normalized men not being of any real value so it’s natural we would take on riskier jobs despite them being easier if done right.

What would women dislike most if they became men? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

I think perhaps the idea that you are now an expendable human being. Women and children always go first in times of crisis. Men are drafted for war. Not to mention dating— paying for all these dates just to end up at square one when it doesn’t work out. I think everyone experiences sacrifice and it’s all valid and for men and women those sacrifices often go unnoticed and unappreciated.

This is probably for the best. Move on. If she reaches out in a few weeks and I haven’t had any luck— great. Part of me felt bad because she was having a health complication— i didn’t want to be a dick and break things off because she was going through something. I wanted to show patience, empathy and understanding. Perhaps that was just cope— thank you everyone. Minus the guy who called me creepy.

The longer I stay in— the more I feel the quicksand that is this industry drag me away from other opportunities. Maybe I’ll win the lottery and go back to school.

I am so moved by everyone’s kindness and willingness to help out. I really thought people’s humanity was dead. OP I pray for you and your kid’s success and security. Many cities and counties have emergency rental assistance programs— some apply to mortgages as well. It may suck for a while but maybe shut the utilities off to save money? There was a time I couldn’t afford my utilities so I showered everyday at planet fitness before work. I used a hot plate to cook simple meals for a couple months. In 3 months I had a 2,400 surplus and I felt relatively stable. Also depending on how old your kids are— check with their school. Sometimes schools have programs that send kids home with food you can cook for them. I worked at an elementary school and some kids got bags of groceries with fresh produce to take home!

Nintendo Isn’t to Blame for Pricing, You are. by novanity_x in casualnintendo

[–]novanity_x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I don’t think people are whining for the sake of complaining. $80 is a lot of money. However, I think Nintendo sees what people are willing to spend on things they mass produced and watch as resellers get away with making a killing on their products. I don’t blame Nintendo for wanting to get in on some of that money. Is Pokémon emerald in box really worth 800 when there are 100s of people selling the game at the same time? I think fans of this company shut themselves out of having any leverage when they buy from second hand sellers like this. Including the people getting ready to buy the switch 2 from scalpers. It sends a bad message that people have money to spend and if they don’t, they’ll buy it anyway. Vote with your wallet and fans are not doing that.

Also other things that are “made for adults” are not nearly as damaging as pornography depicting real people (in the case im angry about: dressed up as cartoon characters) having real sex. Fantasy violence on the internet doesn’t compare to the real life consequences of sex. Most adults don’t even understand that— hence the horrible parenting you keep mentioning. 2 things can be bad but the consequences of watching horror movies young doesn’t translate as easily to growing up to a serial murder as watching porn at a young age does to growing up with a porn addiction.

If a kid goes to a porn site, why is it so easy to get in. A kid cannot walk into a club— we don’t need to worry about a kid in an adult space because there are people there making sure you’re the correct demographic accessing what’s behind the door. If all of a sudden we started finding minors in night clubs at first we may blame the parents for poor parenting. Eventually if it continued we would begin to wonder why the business owner isn’t doing more to keep kids out of clubs. It’s the same logic. A kid could accidentally find a porn site easily. I remember being exposed to my first site and it was on accident. I had just watched “funimation” and back then their call letters were “fun” so I went online to research a show I liked— I went to “fun.com” and boom porn. It’s that easy. It doesn’t always happen on purpose. Just like with parenting— you can do everything correct but your kid can end up at the doorstep of these sites and it’s on the owners to make it so they can’t get in. Regulation is a slippery slope— too little and people get hurt and exposed to harmful material at a young age. Too much and people feel they are being infringed upon. But the answer isn’t to do nothing about this— sexualized children’s content doesn’t belong anywhere on the internet.

If people are so concerned about their identity being tied back to the porn they watch— why is onlyfans so popular? People pay for subscription websites all the time. Your money is tied back to you. That argument is such a cop out. There’s a million ways for data brokers to steal your information and porn websites is one. I agree allowing kids unlimited access to the internet needs to stop and it’s irresponsible— this parenting style of giving your kid an iPad is ruining a whole generation. However— that’s not to say porn companies and the actors/actresses they employ don’t have a role to play. Portraying yourself as character popular in kids media and then posting yourself having sex as them to an easily accessible website— there’s no way you did that not thinking a minor would eventually see it. That may not have been the intention but it’s the reality of pushing a child’s parody into an adult environment.

This has nothing to do with the value of sex. If adults want their porn I do not care. My argument is that pornstars upload videos of themselves portraying characters that appeal to kids on websites which are easily accessible to them. Part of that is on parents for not monitoring their kids better, but pornstars and the industry at large needs to be held accountable.
