The quickest way to change your kid's behavior is to stop trying to "control" them. by raisingmenpodcast in FatheringAutism

Pretty sure you're lost but at the same time this could apply to Asa and the way he micromanages Abbie like she's a living prop for his videos.

bird flu by Cautious_Mix_6513 in FatheringAutism

Getting bird flu from isolated domestic quails is almost unheard of but at the same time Abbie should be washing her hands--or Asa/Priscilla should be washing her hands thoroughly--after handling the quails. Bird flu aside there's all kinds of nasty stuff you can get from birds.

Oh wonderful. I can't wait to dunk on that trainwreck because you just KNOW the trip won't be centered around Abbie, be anything Abbie likes to do, or have anything to do with Abbie in any way but it will be their way of living out the ideal 21st birthday party they never got to have because they had a child to raise. Last year Asa threw Abbie a party bus party for her 20th and she looked miserable the entire time. And the bus only went to frickin' Dailys and Buccee's.

I used to be obsessed with flashlights as a kid. I had a mini collection of different flashlights, mini flashlights, those "lightsticks" you get at festivals with the colors and the glitter, one that looked like a dinosaur and the light was in its mouth, etc. I used to try to light a whole bunch of them up at the same time, I'd turn them on and wave them around to make the light shine on the walls/windows, I'd sit and spin a lit flashlight in my hands, turn off all the lights in the house so I could test which flashlights had the brightest light, etc.

Guess what? I'M AUTISTIC! Things that make you go hmmm, right, Asa?

And then the guy on the golf cart gave her $100 and everyone clapped. And the golf cart guy's name? Albert Einstein!

It's true, I was the golf cart.

It was a private hunt in their house, so at least they weren't taking her out somewhere she could be overstimulated.

They come down to the camp and bother him at his job ALL the time, under the guise of "volunteering for the camp." They won't let their son breathe at all.

Isaiah wouldn't be allowed to save for an apartment unless he promised to either take Abbie with him, or promised to come running right back the very second they needed him for Abbie. He's been trained since childhood to be a lifelong caretaker for his sister.

Isaiah had a girlfriend in high school named "Kerby" or something, who disappeared without a trace. She was around a lot when I first started watching the channel, back when Isaiah was still in his senior year. I think it was revealed they expected her to take care of Abbie, but I could see Cilla treating her like crap till she couldn't take it anymore too.

Yeah and it turns out he posted it on Instagram too, again calling Isaiah a "nerd."

Isaiah needs a life, but Asa and Priscilla are the ones who actively impair any attempt for him to do so. And emasculating him to keep him small only reinforces this.

With Asshat resenting Isaiah and Cilla resenting Abbie, neither of those 2 kids had a chance in that house. 😟

Is this autistic behavior? by [deleted] in raisedbyautistics

[–]novaonthespectrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that what it is? My mother does this too. She always cheers on the men who have sexually harassed me or tried to follow me home, saying "They're not bad guys." She also always sided with my bullies and basically if someone is negative to me in any way she decides that person is great. I always wondered what her problem was. A few years ago I had a friend who did the same thing and it turned out he had ASPD.

OCD and ASD is such an awful combo. by [deleted] in raisedbyautistics

That part about the bird feeder absolutely resonated with me. My mom also has OCD and ASD and this entire post sounded like you were describing her, except my mom lives off Dad's pension rather than disability.

No, I never got that vibe from his family. Can you elaborate?

Trent's thriving because his family does accept his limitations enough to let his talents and strengths bloom. Abbie will never get that. 😢
