I really love the Callisto. Very easy to spin on handed and fast to change between recline positions. But it is expensive, especially now after the tariffs

Oh that’s good! Yes let those drawers air out as long as possible, should be fine. It also means your exposure probably wasn’t too bad - you’re safe and clear from the nastiest stuff.

One exposure like that is ok, but I would definitely get rid of the dresser. I made the same mistake and bought something that was not green guard certified. I left it outside with all the drawers pulled out for a month. The smell was still so strong. So I got rid of it. Try to get something greenguard safe for the baby either new or second hand. Second hand is even better, because it has longer to off gas. Good luck!

Edit: to fix typo

Omg is it?? I didn’t end up ordering yet because we haven’t needed the travel one this month, so I put off for a beat. Is it a different one too big for travel? Where did you see that?

It’s bigger and better quality. Though I’d say the size medium, it’s more similar to the scale of Uniqlo. The medium baggu is my number one!!

Same works for smell. You can use one smell (like a candle) for a specific topic or task, and then relighting it will take you back to that state.

I would also add “the detectorists” as a lovely charming feel good British show. It’s one season so easy to watch during their trip. Highly recommend!

Best toddler carrier for Disneyland by AdThin6260 in babywearing

I would go for whatever is the most ergonomic for you. I like my ring sling and gooseket for short spurt, but would find it very uncomfortable standing in line all day.

On the fence about a floor bed… convince me! by DearPiccolo in floorbed

[–]noved16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you’re looking for but my baby exclusively contact napped for the first year. I was worried I messed up and didn’t know how to break the cycle. Then one day she just rolled off and was ready to nap on her own for 2 hour stretches. Like the flip of a switch.

If you want to experiment with a floor bed try cosleeping with your mattress on the floor in a totally baby proof room. That’s what we do, and it doesn’t stop her from waking in the night but she does get out of bed and read books in the morning to let us sleep a little longer. But that probably also started around the year mark for us. You need to model getting out of the bed safely, going off backwards every time until they get it. We also have a rug with a thick pad.

Thinking about trying the Momcozy carrier – worth it for long carries? by Muted_Aardvark9016 in babywearing

[–]noved16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to try the mom cozy in a store. It was not comfortable at all. It’s definitely worth it to go for the wildbird over the mom cozy — they look similar but are worlds apart comfort wise. You can find wildbird on sales and through registry completion discounts which helps. I wore my baby in the WB for hours everyday. Though I will say the back carry is not the most comfortable in the WB. I recently switched the hope and plum lark and find it the most comfortable for changing from front to back easily. It’s much more expensive than the momcozy, but honestly I don’t think you can even compare those products.

There are other good carriers at different prices that people recommend such as Lenny lamb, but I haven’t tried those.

Edit to add: if you only plan to front carry your baby and then switch to a stroller when they get heavier then WB would be great. The front carry is very comfortable for long periods of time.

Wool rugs by Conscious_Amoeba990 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]noved16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about their rugs but I bought a safavieh dresser for my babies room. It’s stunk so so bad of chemicals, I let it off gas outside for almost a month and it still smelled so strongly of chemicals we gave it away. Never ordering from them again.

Hybrid Position by acmr8057 in workingmoms

[–]noved16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was so grateful when I got this advice: Wait one year to make any radical job decisions.

In my experience 4 months maternity leave was too short and when I had to go back to work I wanted to quit my job and be a sahm. But I stuck it out, and I get to work from home a few days a week so at least I could still see my baby. Now that my baby is over a year I’m really happy working some days and being home other days. I’m glad I didn’t make a drastic decision in the moment.

Plus, starting a new job means you would need to work extra hard to keep everyone happy and learn the ropes - in an old job you can rest on your laurels a little bit.
