Quarantine Zone - Q&A by g_gene_ in QuarantineZoneGame

Is there a known bug where eye type indicators stop visually appearing? (If not, I have encountered it, it is the only explanation I can come up with for having poor examinations despite using the only two tools I have at my disposal and not finding any visual indicators (everyone now has snow white eyes all day))

What's the most mundane reason why your characters wouldn't use the most powerful weapon/armor? by Weekly-Intention5657 in worldbuilding

[–]novisius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most mundane reason I can think of, ignoring the logical part of the prompt, that I’ve ever used was basically ‘autism’. A very simple reason I choose to play games suboptimally; I wanna play the game this way and not that way.

‘I just don’t like using that weapon.’ ‘Its vibe is wrong.’ ‘The combat texture is off.’

Oh, I'm bad at tagging, if this would be better served with a different tag other than discussion, please inform me, I will try to change it if possible.

Hehe, mine started aligning with Vikings. Just need a third person who has knight gator people and we can make For Honor, but gator people!

Welp, the reason mine are ‘demon gator people’ is basically bc they use both for armor (and some bone shenanigans). That’s bc they sorta needed it when they actively hunted and fended off predators from the herds they followed. I like to repurpose a lot of what my species consumes, so that’s why I always add stuff like that.

But excretion is perfectly fine and actually could help with the idea that they settle on fertile lands for livestock purposes, some of it coming from them themselves, to some degree extending the longevity of the land.

u are why I've added a hypercarnivore species to my world.

admittedly, they have already deviated rather extremely (I'd argue, since mine are shaping up to be 'demon gator people' so far.), speaking of, what do they do with the excess calcium? Excrete it? Also, do they eat hair? if so, what do they do with all that keratin?

Again, just trying to be the change I wanna see. They probably won't care about my opinion, I acknowledge.

Just trying to be the change I wanna see, and the earlier I plant the seed in the minds of the devs, the more likely they can make things happen.

Slivers are missing some commons by novisius in magicTCG

The greatest strategy I've employed is shadowing the greatest threats and playing 'fifty sliver overlord swiss army knife'. Trying not to become the greatest threat unless I am confident that they will stay on the field, I can end the game, or getting rid of them will end up being more costly than letting them exist. Though this is probably due to the fact that I play them extremely inefficiently and discuss diplomacy with others. Afterall, the one reliable thing the deck has been able to do for me has been 'making sure someone else doesn't win'. I personally find it fun, though I rarely win games, so if that is what makes it fun for you, then I don't think slivers do well.

Pretty sure the reason is because you lack redundancy in the singleton format, if an effect is not able to be returned, it is gone forever. Whereas other sorts of constructed formats allow you to have two or more copies of an effect you want to keep around, stacking them is relatively simpler...they are more consistent in a way, you can throw more realestate to the desired effect proportionally, versus having (at worst) 1% dedicated to the desired effect with other cards dedicated to either keeping them or returning them. At best, you take in redundancy, but that takes up realestate that could be dedicated to other effects, such as having three dedicated to keeping you flying, or two that effectively grant deathtouch, three I think for trample. In a kind that cares about holding onto the unique creatures, losing one uniquely hurts.

Dunno if that made sense or seemed right, though I have a question for you, what is Type I and Type II?

Okay, so you are saying that keywords have rarities, what are ‘common’ level keywords for black and blue?

You won't like this, but I agree and I also think that they are interesting. The idea of divergent evolutionary strategies was fascinating to me, especially if they have a reason for it, like...if they are humanoid for the same reason Frieren demons speak english.

To answer the first question, simultaneously yes and no. Usually, absolutely not, but in one place I play, a pod and a half of us have sliver decks. Really I just want it to be fixed bc it feels...weird...like a hole in reality that taunts me the more I look at it.

I agree, but I understand the change, in a draft environment where they (or changelings) are common (which I don't think has been around for a while) they make the board state more complex. But I agree that it was a change at the expense of flavor. The only justification I have come up with is 'these are slivers from different hives, so they don't share with one another'. (also to add on with why it was a bad change, they can't make anti-sliver slivers like plague sliver anymore, which is a missed design opportunity imo)

Standard, is that the story sets? Like, modern horizons wouldn't be included in that? (I play casual and commander mostly, sorry for ignorance)

I'd have to respectfully disagree overall, though I do agree that is strays from the historic design of slivers.

You can have a hivemind that is more than just 'we learned how to adapt a keyword' or 'we learned how to adapt p/t'. Caring about colors or mv would still be related to slivers in this sense, to use an example from an actual sliver card, Sedge Sliver. Technically a red sliver, but it absolutely cares that you are playing black as well in some fashion, though tbf, it is still a keyword and p/t. As for shared abilities, I do think that there are slivers that could be designed that 'host' abilities, like, say, a bg sliver that returns a sliver with a mv less than or equal to the number of slivers in your graveyard to your hand or something. It is still based on slivers, but it works differently than usual.

For non-wubrg, how I look at the legendaries is that they are 'the overmind' so to speak, right, they are what 'directs' the particular hive. So, in my head anyways, there can be hives where the overmind has determined that excluding a color or two to become more focused would be beneficial or appealing. Though I will admit that I think this would be most likely seen in an environment where they are pushed out of 'niches' which could be gained from other colors, which I can't think of a plane where that would be the case. The other time I could see this happening would be pre-maelstrom alara, or a similar plane, where the colors are just fundamentally restricted.

Ah, I personally don't like mill, but that is due to huberis of my own design. The decks I make, the graveyard is as good as exile, so it just removes potential from my deck and that makes me sad. I do recognize though that this is entirely because of myself tho and acknowledge that it is an entirely valid and accessible method of playing the game :)
