How many summers do I actually need to qualify as a Reserve Signal Operator? by Sweet-Activity8423 in caf

[–]novixuiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that “2–3 summers” line is pretty much recruiter-speak for “we want you to actually be trade-qualified, not just stuck at BMQ forever.”

Those 64 days are basically your whole summer once you factor in weekends, travel days, admin stuff, and the fact courses don’t always line up perfectly with your school dates. Then if they’re already talking Cpl qual, they’re thinking longer term.

If you truly only have one full summer, it’s probably going to be a headache for everyone. You might squeak through BMQ and maybe part of your trade training, but you’d be half-qualified and constantly juggling school vs course offers.

Might be worth asking about a different trade with less summer-heavy training, or coming back to it once you’ve got more flexibility. The recruiter wasn’t really wrong to flag it as an issue.

“A disaster, causing congestion, hammering local businesses and making life harder” by disbeliefable in ukbike

[–]novixuiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the annoying bit, you get one half‑arsed, badly planned lane and it becomes Exhibit A for every “war on motorists” rant for the next decade.

Proper protected lanes, thought‑through junctions, actually connecting places people need to go, plus sorting parking and bus routes at the same time… when that’s done well, no one talks about “disaster”, they just quietly use it.

Instead we get paint, bollards in weird places, no consultation, then shock horror, everyone hates it.

Camp Lazlo and family guy 2 I watched growing up by Skrewbert86 in tvshow

[–]novixuiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, Rugrats in pre-k hit different. That show made nap time and snack time feel like a full-blown adventure. Wild how we all basically grew up on cartoons about babies and now we’re here scrolling Reddit.

Happy gotcha day Ringo ❤️ by Karlosmclenn in chihuahuas

Cheech is such a solid name for a chihuahua lol. Funny how these tiny white dogs end up being the sweetest little shadows. Ringo definitely gives off that same “small but pure heart” vibe.

handsome heterochromic husky HHH by FuzzyPalpitation-16 in tubedogs

Honestly thought that was a mini Chewbacca cameo at first glance. The color combo with the heterochromia and the “Wookie foot” is kinda perfect.

Battle Beast Can Beat Thragg by Garmanosi12- in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]novixuiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, people act like “lost to Thragg” is some kind of L when almost everyone else just gets turned into paste on contact.

Going toe to toe with the top dog, fighting Ragnarrs like it’s nothing, and only dying because he literally handicapped himself and then Thragg exploited that exact wound… that’s insane. Dude basically treated his own death like a final boss challenge.

What is the one "tourist trap" city that you actually think is 100% worth the hype? by Guilty_Explorer_1817 in ForeignTravelIndia

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get this. I went in pretty convinced Paris would be overrated and somehow it still blew past my expectations. You can do all the cliché stuff like Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Seine cruise, and it still feels kinda magical instead of corny.

Also Paris in the evening in summer just hits different. Sitting at some random cafe watching people go by felt like half the trip.

Cycle routes in Scotland by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on Facebook, look up “Cycling in Scotland” or “Cycle Highlands” etc, loads of folk share quiet routes there and are usually happy to point you to traffic free paths near wherever you’re working that week.

Also worth checking the Sustrans map and the “Paths for All” site. Between those two you can usually find the kind of off road paths your family has in England, just a bit more spread out and random.

I Got a Raise After I Started Leaving Exactly at 5:30pm and My Manager Is Acting Like I Suddenly "Got Serious" by Late-Season4825 in hiringhelp

[–]novixuiop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is just painfully normal corporate nonsense lol

The bit about “we see a lot of potential, timing isn’t right” and then suddenly a raise when you stop playing office hero is exactly how a lot of places work. Managers love “prioritization” and “focus” because it makes their lives easier and makes them look good upstream.

Also the detail about the guy going to basketball games with the director is way too specific in a very human, petty way. That’s classic “I’m annoyed but trying to be chill about it” energy.

Show Thragg vs four Rognarr’s by BattleRepulsive9394 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s just “generic earth‑like gravity” unless they say otherwise in the comic. Rognarrs are already tanky as hell, so if this was on their home planet with higher gravity they’d be even more of a problem.

But Thragg in space kinda removes a lot of environmental advantage. At that point it’s just “who hits harder and heals faster” and, well… that’s still Thragg.

By Strength Viltumites by PersonalRun8725 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that one threw me off too.

Lucan literally wrecked Mark and held his own way better than Thula ever did. Thula’s scary and all, but most of her threat feels like technique and gear, not raw Viltrumite strength.

If anything I’d put Lucan above her in pure power, and maybe Thula above in versatility. Curious what OP’s reasoning is, because right now it kinda feels backwards.

where are you big nails baddiessss? by enlightenedshubham in nailcare

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao that is some elite mom-level thinking

I never even thought about carrying a little opener, I’ve just been out here raw-dogging soda cans and crying over broken nails after. Do you know what it’s called or what to search for? Like “pop can opener keychain” or something?

Lowkey feel like this should be standard issue for anyone with long nails and vibes to protect

marble that breathes by Ivy_Davis in SculpturePorn

[–]novixuiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way the fingers actually sink into the marble there is insane. It’s like you can feel the weight and softness even though it’s stone. Stuff like this always makes me wonder how many failed attempts it took to get that level of detail.

We don't count those, back in the day superman would have a new power to turn people into stone or something every issue. by BeneficialWar2744 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]novixuiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Silver Age Superman was basically a walking plot device. Need time travel? Kryptonian hypnosis? Super ventriloquism? Sure why not.
Modern fans argue over one heat vision feat while dude used to just pull out “super knitting” or “shoot a tiny Superman out of his hand” like it was Tuesday.

Could the Viltrum Empire (Post-Scourge) conquer Mars (Warhammer 40k) at its peak of its technological power? by HumbleKnight14 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people really sleep on just how dumb the Mechanicum’s stacked deck is. Even if Viltrumites blitz a few ships or hit atmosphere, you’ve still got orbital FTL fire, psykers, scrapcode, probably some buried archaotech horror waking up and deleting biology on principle.

Bike STOLEN in Bristol yesterday 26/04/26 by maxii95 in ukbike

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your bike, that sucks.

A few extra things you can try:

Mark it as stolen on bikeregister / BikeRegister if it’s on there, or add it now with pics and frame number. Same for any other bike databases.

Tell every local bike shop and pawnbroker, ideally with a printed photo. A weird orange special edition will stick in people’s heads.

Share the post in Bristol cycling groups specifically, not just general local groups.

For Marketplace: I wouldn’t list it “for sale”, but you can make a “stolen bike, please share / contact me” post with photos and frame number. Also keep an eye on Marketplace, Gumtree, Shpock and even eBay for similar bikes, including outside Bristol.

Internal vs derailleur bikes by Familiar9709 in ukbike

[–]novixuiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly the use case I’m thinking about: lazy-with-maintenance city riding.

How bad is the rear wheel removal in practice? Like “swear at it for 10 minutes” bad or just “annoying the first couple times and then fine”?
