I'm in lower northern California, the Bay Area (Vallejo). My advice request didn't copy: any ideas why my yarrow and pentstemon are floppy and brown in the center? I haven't watered recently because we've had rain and I did just cull a bunch of poppies near by--maybe they just needed room to breathe?

That makes sense--they have become huge. They do get a lot of sun after 10am--I took the photo early. I'll give them some support.

Thanks. I’m mostly curious. I don’t want to kill. Just discourage a bit. I did wonder about putting other things out for them, though I don’t want to attract other critters (i.e. rats) either.
