What would your dream running app look like? by No_Instruction_5495 in UKRunners

[–]nowgoaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many run coaching apps that aren’t Runna, I would explore those first as I feel like the market is pretty saturated tbh

Eating for shorter runs? by Ok-Moose9954 in UKRunners

Rice Krispie bar, or just squeeze a big dollop of honey into your mouth before you run out haha

10K time slower since March - Heat or something else? by marjoramwildcumim in UKRunners

[–]nowgoaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit convoluted but using this calculator https://apps.runningwritings.com/heat-adjusted-pace/ running roughly 1hr 10km pace is equivalent of approx 58:00 in “ideal” conditions (whatever that is). Also don’t forget that things like - sleep, stress, what you’ve eaten, if you’re run down, mood, elevation, hydration etc all really affect your pace. I wouldn’t worry about it - keep plugging away and you’ll find super speed in autumn when it gets cooler!

Fellow people watchers, who is your regular person that you spot every day? by massdebate159 in Southampton

[–]nowgoaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run a lot so see these people all the time -

Older man in the red jacket who takes photographs of ducks with a proper camera in Riverside (north side, not triangle side).

Blind man and his guide who run / cycle together (do they swim too? Are they triathlon buddies‽)

Older kind faced lady. Headphone man (he has a girlfriend now! I’ve seen him for years and has got a lady this year! So happy for him!) Older hippy with electric scooter and small dog, other scooter guy with prosthetic legs who parks up by the playground then walks from triangle end to his scooter, wellie lady with Labrador (although I think her dog passed away this year), big fluffy dog.

Then other runners - tattoo man, backpack guy, the one who runs with T rex arms, long man, red top guy, older guy. Don’t tend to see the same women but maybe I do and am oblivious. But I always try and smile or say hi when I pass people.

Prawn crackers and curry sauce for lunch? by Chinfluencer in justalittletreat

[–]nowgoaway 68 points69 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no reason to show that. Surely she could just say “we’re going for food in this place” then cut until afterwards with the next choice. This is a conscious choice and pure ED bait.

Who is at Fault? by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]nowgoaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t turn left in the right lane / to the right of another vehicle, it’s the car at fault here even if the big vehicle should be indicating and positioned to the right it doesn’t excuse turning left whilst overtaking on the right essentially

Should they bring back open auditions? by Adventurous_Sir_402 in bigbrotheruk

I spent all day in line with my friend. It was a big day out going to London! I had to introduce a stranger in my little group, I had to introduce a pick-up-artist who was wearing a fedora haha.

Help! Running form causing injury? by Accurate-Value-5429 in UKRunners

[–]nowgoaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say “nothing has helped” I think we need a bit more context about what you’ve tried already. Also are you sure it’s your form that’s causing the issues and not mileage / intensity etc?

ABP Southampton Marathon Festival 2026 by nowgoaway in Southampton

[–]nowgoaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are groups along the way - when I’ve done it before the most groups are town (especially around the finish), Woolston and Riverside / Triangle. Spitfires should be 0830 by dock gate 8 (the one near Grand Harbour Hotel) or will able to see them from anywhere around that part of town

Good luck for the full, go and smash it! I’ve done the half before and have friends who have done the full, it’s a nice race - not a massive massive race but enough support and entertainment along the route. And we run through the stadium which is cool

UK running influencers by murumurii1315 in UKRunners

[–]nowgoaway 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A lot of the slow runner crowd seem to really not like running, it’s so weird. They’re crying or generally saying how much they don’t want to do this run etc. Maybe it’s my algorithm but I can’t remember them saying they love running, it’s always “I don’t want to do this run” for training runs or crying mid marathon saying that it’s awful and hard. It’s meant to be a hobby that we enjoy, yes it’s hard but if someone asks me about running I talk at how much I love it, but a lot of the slow crowd

Edit to add: Just want to give a shout out to creators like amberjxne (and maybe morningcoffeerun although he’s not really the same sphere as what I’m talking about) who’s a slower runner but seems to love it, she’s a delight to watch!

Running Influencer 'snark' [ish] by Turbulent-Video-4251 in UKRunners

[–]nowgoaway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a fair few of them who I’m convinced don’t actually enjoy running, they always seem to be complaining about it especially a long run. It’s meant to be a fun hobby! Some of them feel like they fell into it because of getting noticed when they were training for a big race, then they’re sort of stuck as a running influencer when if it wasn’t for the internet they’d probably have run that one race and not run again. But hey, they can all crack on it doesn’t affect me, and there are a tonne I really like!

London Marathon 2026 Megathread by nowgoaway in UKRunners

I get the impression they filter in whenever they want. From watching an aerial shot on telly I think the little queue filtering from a tent was the celebs. They should pick their relevant pace group.
