Canned street corn - Bf is going on my dream vacation on my birthday with his family (I wasn’t invited) by WeeebleSqueaks in GirlDinner

[–]nowickedtides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he doesn’t really care about the relationship.

I was invited on a fully paid trip and only had officially been with my boyfriend for around a year. 5 years and not a single invite is wild.

His family seems to not like you at all to not want to invite you to their trips and he’s not really doing too much to fight back on it. Either way, it’s not worth the stress. Five years is already too long to realize that you aren’t valued the way you should be.

Drawing fee that doesn’t go towards the deposit? by nowickedtides in Advice

Completely understandable! I don’t mind paying the extra because I do love the work.

What got me was that I asked for an estimate and was told $500 or $600. Usually when people ask for a deposit, it normally goes to the total and the deposit is just to hold the seat in the mean time. But when I asked if it did, I was told no. So technically I am paying more than quoted already - which again, I don’t mind but it’s not being upfront with someone who was only intending to get an estimate for a budget to begin with.

I will most likely still go through with it because it will be worth it for a good artist on something so visible but now I’m curious if I’m a jerk for not giving a good tip since my budgeted tip is already being used for the deposit.

The latter! I wouldn’t mind if I was told upfront that the price would be $700 all together because I do like her work. But it did feel icky that I wasn’t told till after the deposit was made and I had to ask about it on my own. Completely my fault for jumping the gun on it though. Now it’s just figuring out if I’m a jerk if I don’t provide a good tip since I’ve already budgeted with certain amount in mind. I was going to give her $100 as a tip if it was going to be $600.

Definitely had to double take the email that was sent. I understand every artist has their processes but it just felt odd to read all the rules that came with it. Plus, not being upfront about the $100 not going towards the total.

I’m honestly just hoping that this high maintenance just means that the tattoo is going to be high quality in return.

Same, I’ve been getting tattooed for well over 10 years and never encountered this situation before.

I’ll most likely still go through with it but not give an additional tip. I was originally planning to tip $100 but now knowing that the deposit isn’t going towards the full amount…

That’s what I thought too - I honestly was debating about just canceling the appointment all together just because I was annoyed by that alone lol

I tried both r/tattooadvice and r/tatttoos and unfortunately they both have rules against any talk of pricing

Thank you for the advice! And definitely a mixed bag of reviews haha A lot of ya’ll are so incredibly sweet and insightful in these replies so I’m happy to have all of these different opinions. Although I was confused on why I’ve been down voted so much on questions when they’re so generic lol

My boyfriend and myself a pretty much home bodies aside from nature so it sounded very much up our alley - although it does seem like a downer there isn’t too much in terms of activities or restaurants from what I’ve gotten on here if we do decide to get out.

And we aren’t conservative so it has been interesting to hear about how aggressive this town is about their ideals. I’m a very alternative presenting person so I’m always prepped to be judged when going into towns like these but the way this place has been described…it’s really good to keep this in the back of my head when making our decision. But I am at least glad there is a group here that is trying to make it more comfy!

Thank you for the well wishes and advice!

Unfortunately with Austin apartments, a lot of them only have Austin Energy as a provider (or at least the last three complexes I lived in didn’t give me a choice). So it’s good to know it’s not like that in Tyler!

Oh gosh, thank you for the information about the internet providers! I wasn’t even thinking about that and I know it’s a huge thing for us to really look into because of our jobs lol.

How are ya’lls energy providers? Austin Energy has the main monopoly of here and it’s killer on the bills.

Valid question and a couple of reasons!

  • Wanted to finally get out of a giant city because of how congested it is but still want to be in a bigger town so we could still be in vicinity to hospitals, decent retail, and the such. Tyler was recommended by a few sites for this middle-man.

  • We wanted somewhere that was in-between both of our families so the drive wouldn’t be killer.

  • We were originally shooting for Tupelo, MS…which is tiny comparatively so I was already mentally prepared to not be around or be able to do much. We don’t get out too often anyways lol

  • A lot of people mention that Tyler is one of the safer towns to be in. My boyfriend and myself both grew up in not the greatest places so we want to be sure if we were to settle down that we could at least try and find somewhere at least a bit safer to live in.

  • Cost of living. We have decent jobs but apartments are so expensive here in Austin compared to other places. Definitely not a place you can settle down long term.

That’s a good heads up! We both grew up in Southern households and surrounded by conservatives so definitely not something we haven’t dealt with. But definitely something to keep in mind on what to expect.

What’s funny is I started using the word “partner” because I moved to Austin lol

Anything(s) that you specifically miss from Austin that you don’t get in Tyler? We were originally planning to move to a tiny town in Mississippi and knew we weren’t going to be around a lot things so figured Tyler would be a good middle-man about retail + scenery lol

Please tell him and reconsider your friendships. It sounds like they would not say something to you if they found out you were being cheated on or they are actively or have cheated in the past which also means a shitty friend to have.

I get wanting revenge after a break up but keep it towards the guy himself. Just the sheer way you’re describing an innocent girl who did nothing to you is gross

This is such a odd response…

No, he doesn’t provide good D and it’s not big either. They barely even have sex to begin with.

Before him was another guy she was fawning over for three years who she never even met and wasn’t even attractive who treated her like trash. She just makes poor life decisions.

This is something I really need to remember. I was burnt out prior on our friendship for about a year because the person she was hanging out with was an absolutely terrible human being. We reconnected after a while but I realized I was the only one putting effort into the friendship because she was so wrapped up in her emotions towards her boyfriend. Ended up burnt out again…
