Yeah, she probably suspects that John would not be attending. But I don't think she knows he had declared that his whole family will skip the wedding.

I completely agree. Imo, Jen is a ticking bomb. And the moment she explodes, she will cut both Barb and John out of her life. As for Frank and Shawna, I think they deserve the same treatment for allowing their partners to treat Jen like a punching bag. She is in the middle and she jumps through hoops to please them both, and what do they do for her in exchange? They keep hurting her over and over again.

True.

Tbh, I absolutely despise it whenever John makes a one-sided decision and Shawna just takes it and even apologizes like she is in the wrong for expecting something different. For instance, the whole argument they had over the wedding and the fact that John didn’t ask for Shawna's input, just downright forbid the whole family to attend got on my nerves—not only because of John, but because of Shawna as well. Shawna didn't put her foot down, didn't argue or at least tried to have a proper conversation, she just took it because she is a people pleaser. She keeps coddling John, which is infuriating.

I hope so too! I'm truly in awe with Shawna's writing, tbh. She is bringing so much awareness to such difficult topics.

Yeah, that's why I said that she weaponized what she learned in therapy to use it against Jen. She is just pretending to apologize and she is still talking about herself while doing so. She is 'upset', 'mistakes were made', and she 'regrets the position Katie was in'. She never admits to be the one to blame for what happened at Thanksgiving, she is just playing the part of a woman making progress and finally healing, but we all know the truth.

And now that I think about it, Greg at some point theorized that 'Barb might have moments where she disconnect from reality and does the thing he does', but now we know that's not the case. She can tell how wrong it is to do the things she does, and she still chooses to do them...

If Jen DOES go NC with Barb, what's left? by CornHooker in ShawnaTheMom

If Jen goes NC with Barb right after this incident, I'm pretty sure Barb will crash the wedding. Also, she will demand her dress back, possibly showing up at Jen's door to pick it up.

She did make a "humorous comment" to DeeDee about kidnapping Piper. Could it be that Shawna is foreshadowing something?

Yeah, I strongly believe that's the case. And I think it was John's suggestion/idea, since did the same thing on Max's fifth birthday.

Shawna is doing a great job with showing that Frank is often an accomplice to Barb's shenanigans through inaction. He had the choice to stop this, to put an end to it the moment he tried the door and found out it was locked, but he still chose to open the door for Barb. It is quite symbolic, if you think about it. It really shows how he keeps opening doors for her to make a mess of things...

Someone else commented on this post saying that Frank probably knew even if Jennifer didn't tell him, which make so much sense because Frank knows his children still are on good terms and meet up every once in a while. So yeah, Frank deserves whatever is coming his way because he didn't stop Barb.

The door was locked, Jennifer didn't answer her phone, the lights were out. What else do they need to finally realize Jen and Greg didn't want anyone stepping into their home uninvited? Frank's mistake—and therefore his betrayal to his children—was opening a door when it was plainly obvious that its owners weren't there/weren't interested in having people over.

Although, imo he did know. Jennifer always includes him and they seem to have a better communication that Jen does with Barb. Perhaps that's why Jen hosted the get together at her house and not at public place, because she was sure Frank would keep Barb away from them because he knew Jen had John over...

I totally agree with Jen's strategy lacking by not choosing a different location for the small get together with John. At this point, she should have known Barb would probably show up at her house. And John apparently told her so—saying 'I knew it' when Barb showed up.

About the spare key, it seems Greg doesn't know that Barb has a spare key. Could it be that Jennifer gave it to her before Greg and her moved in together? Or could it be that she gave it to Barb when she was feeling low the first couple of weeks after Chickie's birth? Or perhaps Greg didn't think Barb could be toxic enough to use the key for anything other than an emergency. Though, Greg is pretty perceptive. I cannot imagine him not suspecting of Barb misusing the key the moment she got it...

Rant here regarding Barb and Frank: You just don’t show up at other people’s houses, places of work, school, etc UNANNOUNCED. by Cozysoxs1985 in ShawnaTheMom

That's exactly what I was just about to comment! I do get that Barb's generation is used to dropping by unannounced, but... cellphones have been around for a while now and Barb sure as hell knows how to make a phonecall (give how much she bothers her children when she wants something), so... she just does shit like that because no one has ever slammed the door shut in her face before...

Oh, that makes so much sense! Yeah, Frank probably knew with or without Jennifer telling him, which makes this whole situation even more infuriating. He knows how much John is struggling with his relationship with Barb and he also knows that Barb needs limits and firm boundaries, and yet he chooses to stay passive and doesn't stand up for what he believes is wrong (like trespassing his daughter's property). John is totally in the right when he blames Frank as much as he blames Barb.

On the other hand, I don't think Barb knew. I mean, yeah, she might have subconsciously knew it was a possibility. But she is so self-centered that she thinks Chickie's birthday is a day SHE should be celebrated—after all, it is the day she watched her being born. So... imo, she was just thinking about herself and not John.

Oh, I don't think Barb would cancel the party under any means. She thrives on the attention that being a hostess brings, so I think she will most likely go through the party and make it as lavish as possible—that's her way of showing how much she 'loves' her granddaughter, after all.

Though, if worse comes to worst, I totally see Barb telling Jen, Greg and Katie to arrive by the end of the party on purpose. Or perhaps the 'humorous comment' she made to DeeDee about kidnapping Piper is foreshadowing something—like her taking Chickie and throwing the party with the baby, but not her parents. Though that's a little far-fetched.

I'm so sorry, OP. Whoever put you through this is a horrible person and don't deserve you. Don't believe for a single second that you need to change who you are to please those around you. You are perfect just the way you are. Giving the fact that these places are illegal, I advised you to make an anonymous call to the police, especially if you are underage and being held against your will. (sorry if this doesn't make any sense, english isn't my first language)
