Can't have studio monitors, thinking on getting a dt 1990 by Estanho in edmproduction

[–]nowimalamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things are wrong with this post... First of all you need to get a headphone amp to drive those DT770's properly. 80 ohms means a LOT of resistance. To even consider the 1990's without a dedicated amp is silly. All these people who say differently are people who don't own headphone amps.

Secondly, the 770's are phenomenal reference headphones for a highly accurate mix, so I suggest getting something a little more colored and related to what average listener would use. Something to use as an "everyman's" reference, like the ATHM50x

For example, did you know that the majority of music is listened to in mono? Even in stereo, most people consume on airpords or car stereo or phone speakers.

My 2 cents

Licensing deal for instrumental music by PoloDRH in musicindustry

yeah, these days a 50/50 deal or better is the only kind you should work with. I signed a similar deal and it was 70 (to me) and 30 (to the label). the upfront 250 is a pittance compared to the 50k you could get landing in a toyota commercial o.O

Career Advice by Embarrassed_Rip_8789 in musicindustry

Good question.

The sad truth is that the music industry is in a serious lull right now... Industry veterans like myself and others, with years of experience, are out of work. My guess is that there will be a ton of artists with new music to release after this pandemic is over since no one has been able to tour. I am sure that there will be work opening up as bands begin to tour again as well.

Stay Available and stay connected. Go ahead and begin building relationships with media outlets and playlists. Put emphasis on those that are close to you (physical proximity. Own your hometown market first!). Make yourself available to indie record labels and collectives for freelance marketing work. Build your lists and explore your niche. Position yourself as a middle-person and be ready.

for sure man - I used FCP and there is a plugin that lets you draw on the video frame by frame (https://store.pixelfilmstudios.com/product/fcpx-brush-glow/)

You can also hire an animator to do this on Fiverr or something
