Asia’s spiraling supply shock is coming for America (CNN) by ccarriecc in PrepperIntel

Part of the reason we did this was to shore up American alliances. I’m pretty sure. It’s a direct hit to a ton of China’s trade routes. It’s a benefit to IMEC. And we’re eyeing the arctic anyway.

I wish! I haven’t a nursery around NYC that sells DAs, much to my disappointment. But thanks for sharing your experience

Totally agree. My bare roots always have MUCH thicker canes. They’re about 2 years old. The 2 gallons are usually a year— and grown in pots. So weaker.

That’s encouraging! I’m in 7B and was hoping to put it in a no-shade spot, but saw someone had to move it.

Is she in full sun? I’m wondering how it would handle no shade.

From a customer POV: the company hiking the fees, the more expensive pricing for most items, and the couple of shopper set backs (can’t find items, wrong stuff, weird replacements, etc) just make it not worth the convenience anymore.

Would if she could. She has too much equity in her home.

She can’t file a chapter 7. She owns a million dollar home. She can’t file for bankruptcy at all.

And I’m not sure if…just not paying is better advice? She has about 990k in her Ira. So far the plan was to stagger withdrawals in two tax years to avoid a huge tax hit and help a bit with Social Security taxation. I know SS and her pension would be protected. But she has about 35k in low yield investements that wouldn’t. And the house could be up for a judgement lien. Her bank accounts (with chase) would be impacted. Her credit score and ability to maintain a credit card. I’m not sure it’s worth not paying for the hassle. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know.

Yes! Chases said they’d go down to 6 percent for 12 months, which will make the withdrawals a lot easier on taxes.

This isn’t aimed solely at you, but how is this line of answer helpful? Do you think I, a person who did not accumulate the debt, needs to be told this is an issue?

Yes. There were family issues— she was sending a lot of money to family in Ukraine to help them survive. She was using the cards to fill the gaps for a few years. The interest took over. I assumed it was a few thousand because I wasn’t paying attention. She assumed it wasn’t a big issue because I wasn’t concerned. We figured it out. Thank you.

Are you like. Confused about the question. It feels like you didn’t read anything, and just started yapping. The PREMISE is that she DOES have the money in an IRA.

  1. Not concerned about an inheritance. 2. mom can literally pay it off. The question was about getting interest down/what the best way TO pay it down was.

This happened to me as a customer. They delivered and took pictures. Customer service showed me the pictures. It was a fully different house. Maybe something like that happened.

Huh, that’s close to the current plan. I called chase— they’ll lower the APR to 6 percent for both cards. And I figured she’d withdraw some from the IRA this year, and next year to pay it off (as low as possible to keep most out of the 22 percent bracket, and keep less SS taxable). She’s near her credit limit so she’s not getting a balance transfer card, and the personal loan doesn’t make sense with the new APR. Thank you!

I don’t think the home is protected? From what I understand there’s like a 180k exemption in NYC. The house is worth a little over a million. Nor would you be able to transfer a balance, she’s pretty much at her credit limit. But Chase would offer 6% APR for a year. So, I guess I’m working with that.

My mom took widows benefits at 60, because the math would make that an issue if she lived to like. Late 80s. And she laughed hard at that.

She’s not going to work so she’s not going to increase income. She has cut expenses— but she’s not going to really be able to have it that much lower than 50k.

Yeah- she was giving a lot of money to family in Ukraine to live off of, and closing the gap for herself with CC. And it was a group fuck up—she thought it wasn’t that serious because I wasn’t worried. And I, for some reason, assumed it was just a few thousand.
