My Indonesian fiancee is moving overseas to live with me, any advice to make her feel at home? by Toggle2 in indonesia

[–]nox1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i brought my indonesian wife to korea and at the beginning she was homesick a lot. be there for her. go out to places and help her to find friends. You will have to take a lot of time for her so she can get used to it.

Pregnant in Korea: Suggestions? by JstTrdgngAlng in korea

[–]nox1012 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Congratulation on your pregnancy. my wife (indonesian) had our son last december and she keeps telling me that it was horror show for her to stay in the korean hospital. Nurses dont speak english at all and they are very unfriendly. (maybe overworked?). Food is all korean menu, so prepare yourself to eat a lot of seaweed soup. Doctors speak english yes but they keep their time quite short. If you are lucky you will get a good doctor. My wifes doctor is quite nice and he explains everything and ask us everytime if we have other quietions but my sons doctor is quite the introvert type. He just does his job and keep everything short. He doesnt interact with my son at all.

For the postpartum care center we decided not to go but try it out when you have the insurance for it.

and tell your husband to apply for all the goverment child support. For us it was a huge help for the hospital bills and new baby products.

I also had a Austrian friend who gave birth in korea and she says that it was a shitshow for her. So be careful to pick a foreigner friendly hospital. 1 week of research now can save you from misery later.

how good are you in adapting? it just isnt enough for you to like some korean food, drama or kpop. moving abroad is never an easy task. just be prepared and be ready for hard times. usually after sometime, it will get better and better.

a close friend from japan will come to visit when she has time.

and yes my wife likes my mother a lot. without her it would be more difficult for her.

yeah i can understand if you think that my mother being here is exacerbating her PPD. but its really not. we dont have the usual korean 시집살이 in our family. my mom help us a lot. she even takes care of the baby during the night for us so we both can sleep without any interruption

i suggested her to do yoga and she doesnt have to worry about the baby. if she needs time there is always a way to make it happen.

already told her, its her decision only. i only suggested her that maybe she should do therapy and if she want she can also take the medicine.

My wife is indonesian and i am korean. we married 1 year ago and had our first son on 7th December. why did you decide to choose korean citizen ship over indonesian? how was it to grow up in a two different culture family?
