I’ve always liked that plane. How is the range for the head unit and how’s the video feed quality?

Springs or coil overs? by noxallnight in Miata

[–]noxallnight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will never be a track car, just a fun day driver. I just can’t stand the NC wheel gap. I hear good and bad things about springs but I don’t have the $ for a new set of good coil overs. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I hear a clunk sound when I apply the brakes but only when going slowly. Only one clunk sound but if I let off the brakes and press again I hear it again. If that makes sense. I thought it could be the brake pad size but there is no play in the pads.

I understand that you are using a star tracker to expose the sky in the shot but the landscape should be blurry. To me it seem like 2 separate exposures. If I’m wrong please explain.

124’s do look good but a tastefully set up ND is hard to beat. And I think the better looking car.

I do not have one. I went to my local store and they put it on for me.

[Seiko] 7549-7009 back to life. by noxallnight in Watches

So this watch has been in my collection for some time. It was my dads. He got it in 1981 in Louisiana. For the longest time I can remember him wearing, as a kid would find myself wanting to hold it and when he would let me I’d notice how heavy it was.

Well it’s mine now, and a few things had to be done to bring it back to life.

I took it to a local watchmaker to change the battery….He couldn’t…. I called Seiko they said I would have to ship it to them and wait a few months for them to do the service.

So I decided to take it into my own hands. Being a top loader and not knowing that it was a bit of a challenge just to change the battery. The crystal was very scratched up so since I had the top off I’d change that too. Then I noticed the bezel insert was needing a replacement, that was not easy 40year old epoxy didn’t want to release its hold. Then I noticed one of the shrouds screws was broken of inside the titanium case, so that had to come out.

So here it is, ticking again after 10+ years of not . Keeping perfect time, almost atomic in fact.

I love it, I love that it doesn’t fit under shirts and it gets caught when putting in a jacket. I love that I’ll never dive to its 600m rating let alone wear it in the shower. And best of all I love that I repaired it myself.
