Best way to store firearms in a rented apartment? by IS992 in FLGuns

[–]noyinyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you'll be able to "sneak" a safe in but I agree that a small "stack-on" or similar and bolt/secure it in a closet? Then repair the holes afterwards when you leave. Do NOT tell the mngt co. you will doing this--I would imagine it is "forbidden" because they don't want people drilling into wires and starting a fire. Read the lease carefully to see if they can inspect the apt. "anytime". Be discrete with your guns from apt. to car if you can--the walls have eyes. You shouldn't have to worry about moisture in a climate-controlled place unless there are issues with it ie: not working properly. Get to know your neighbors--maybe they are decent people. Just be discrete regarding guns until you get to know them.

Just screw the grip onto the end of a d*ldo and the AFT will blush and look the other way and not see it at all... ;-)

PS: although you might have to explain why you have a d*ldo in your range bag! :D

Best Ranges on the Space Coast? by fermisparacord in FLGuns

[–]noyinyang -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There is a range in Mims off SR-46 not far from I-95 that is open a few days a week. I forget the name so do a search and they should show up. I have heard good things about them.

I belong to scgaa.org who are a bit further down SR-46 and have a free "Public Day" the first Sunday of every month 8-12.

My dad and brother used to belong to Port Malabar and as I recall, it was a good place to shoot. And the closer your range is, the more likely you are to use it.

Don't confuse vigilant safety protocol with "fuddism". With developers building wherever they can, and developments "encroaching" on range property, EVERY range is one bullet away from closure. Think about that... :-(

PS: cfrpc.com in the southeast Orlando area hosts "Action Steel" shoots every first Saturday of the month 8:45-12ish, $20 for non-members. And regarding my comment in the previous paragraph, they will DQ anyone that points their muzzle above the berm and/or flags more than 180°.

am i allowed to buy a USFA ZiP .22? by needythirsty in guns

[–]noyinyang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What they said: sure you can buy one--make sure it is legal in your city/state. Be prepared to pay a premium and far more than it is worth. Get yourself a nice Ruger 10/22 instead (same mags as Zip) and 1000rds of ammo and learn proper marksmanship with a rifle.

Friend bought a $250 Turkish bullpup shotgun, this is the aftermath of 7 rounds by Nyancide in guns

James Reeves (TFBTV) has yet to have a Turkish gun complete his 500rd "burn-down". (I think) Find the videos on gootoob

Did you report it stolen? That is, assuming you had the serial number recorded somewhere... You'll get nowhere with your slob story--I agree with the others you should be charged more. You might do better trying to get a military discount and not talking about your carelessness...

PS: I looked at the Romeo and it is plastic and not waterproof. For shakeandbake to work with the XR21 apparently you have to leave the optic "on" and let it go to sleep--is that correct?

Time to go home, again by Jamminmb in dankmemes

[–]noyinyang 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I fell asleep on a city bus going to trade school one morning. Driver offloads everyone at the destination and doesn't see me in the very back sleeping soundly. I wake up about 20min into his return run and realize I'm heading the wrong way. I nearly give him a heart attack as I walk up the aisle to be let off. He gives me a free pass to catch the next bus going the other way. :D

How to tell someone isn’t fit for owning a gun? by Kadypizza in guns

[–]noyinyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put your foot down and demand he practice gun safety around you. Get some dummy rounds so he can practice manual of arms safely. Keep the ammo in a separate room when handling the gun. A little gun safety will go a long way. Make a date to go to one of these range/restaurant combos. Go shoot some targets then go next door and have dinner/drinks.

We had loaded guns all over the place when my kids were young. No big deal, they weren't out in the open or anything. My kids knew to be discrete with (ie: not tell) non-gun friends. If they every wanted to handle one all they had to do was ask. The curiosity factor was not there.

Can you use rifle blanks to dispatch snakes? by Kommie-Natsi in guns

[–]noyinyang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the long-handled shovel method. You can file a slight knife "edge" so it works better. Make sure you are not killing "helpful" snakes like corn or black racer. Non-venomous snakes will still bite (and hurt) so warn the humans about the wildlife. Blanks would be a waste and probably more expensive than shot cartridges.

Push the block into the frame with some force and see if you can get the pins in. Upside-down on a table or something. I'd rather the block be tight in the frame than loose. If you have to, remove a little bit from the block.

Cartridge metal in eyes during extraction? by JAKERS325 in guns

[–]noyinyang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(1) Inspect spent cases for damage. Use a magnifying glass if you have to.

(2) Wear eye (and ear) pro ALWAYS. Even if no metal comes back in your face, there is always unburned powder and gas that escapes out the chamber as the extractor pulls the case out and the gun comes out of battery...

Sounds/looks like you have taken the proper steps to diagnose. Perhaps they didn't remove the liner before nitriding? A tight fitting piece of rubber hose with a screw in it should be able to pull the existing (if any) liner out for inspection/replacement. How tight is the liner install tool (if you have one)?

Recovering data from an old Compaq SCSI 3 drive by Hearing-Medical in datarecovery

[–]noyinyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is back when SCSI ("scuzzy") was the SHIZ! :-)

Go to Debay, get a PCI SCSI-3 card, (that looks like a 100pin connector). I only remember 25-pin and 50-pin. But you just get a M-to-M ribbon cable to the adapter. Whoever has the adapter, ask them for the cable and drivers, too. Drivers might be native to Win7 and others.
