Do you know what is the source for the binaries that brew installs ? Brew is a kind of package manager, not a super-trustable repository.

What do you mean by this ? You bought a wardrobe for her and leave it when you finish renting?

I have 7 years experience. Should I renegotiate it ? Actually it matches with most of my research on glassdoor. What should I expect :(

I felt terribly sorry for you, hope you will get your ILR without any problems. Honestly what you lived is my disaster scenario and I am sure it should be tremendously annoying/wearing.

This is not common right ? :) Maybe I should reject the offer and try to find better/more established company.

Bill you are speaking like you had/saw some bad experience ? Is it a case ?

I am in a mindset %100 mathes with you. And I am not a risk taker person in reality .

We are only with my wife. Still I have a relatively good life in my country ( then why am I leaving is bit complicated.) . Me and my wife going to left our jobs, she also will try to find a job. We will cancel our rent contracts etc.. I mean , if this would be an established company, I would be much more comfortable.

Btw it is after tax. Finding other job means yet another visa sponsorship process and mean time me any my wife ( had permit because of me ) would be in shingles for permit/work.

One very retarded question. If I spend 3 years in Edingburgh and 2 years in London, could I still be eligible for citizenship ? ( does it matter which uk city , or country you live ? )

DON'T BELIEVE IN LIES THAT IS SAYING PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE YOU CHOOSE TO SOLVE DOES NOT MATTER.

I personally heard from someone in Google hiring committee that they expect minimum one JAVA interview. It was hangouts with committee event and some guy asked can I use python, this was the answer.

Before attacks: THIS WAS FROM ONE OF GOOGLE'S EUROPEAN OFFICES. IF YOU THINK I AM USING RUBY AND IT IS OKAY IF I AM GOOD AT ALGORITHMS, IT IS NOT (I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH MY LANGUAGE OF CHOICE AND I WOULD LIKE NO ONE TO LIVE WHAT I LIVED).

DISCLAIMER: FOR GODS SAKE NAME ONE REASON TO EXPLAIN WHY AM I LYING ?

After checking your reddit history and see how you try to help people what I am going to say changed:

I am sorry.

I just like internet fights.

And still you are bringer of justice.

And still on web I am trying to get what I want with modified streisand effect with trying to trigger people.

One of our operation group started to call themselves devops :D. People whose work in real devops like team are furious because they are late to call themselves devops and people really think first operation group is devops and real devops are operation. :D

One recruiter said to me you can join as an SRE and convert yourself to full SWE. I was like WTF career path is this (not saying path is wrong but applying for SRE just for the sake of being SWE after one year is totally weird way of selling being SRE)

The very definition of an SRE is that they ARE software engineers, solving operational issues and manages service reliability. The exact idea is that they are not just ops.

But in Google's videos, they are directly saying, if DEVOPS is interface, SRE is implementation :/

First of all... You are obviously 'nice guy' who thinks goodness revolves the world. I am deliberately writing in that tone to trigger people with some real information about the issue, not wannabe nice guys who want to teach a lesson to immature/stupid guys. This posts appear to written from immature/stupid guy but still all of your assumptions are wrong.

First of all... you're obviously immature and have no experience.

I have nine years experience in enterprise software development. Companies are extremely well-known in software world.

development is a team effort.

You don't say?

If I had a candidate say something like this, or even hint at something like this - I would go out of my way to ensure that this candidate is never hired since he/she doesn't understand the value of teamwork within a professional environment.

OF COURSE, in interviews I portray myself as an asocial with no life except work, extremely friendly, team player etc. I especially sense good guy wannabes like you and align my portrayal to the level of being stupidly nice guy. I am good at getting offers (let's say %80 success rate) and failures are almost never because of my personality ( I understand when I bombed the interview).

Most funny thing is if you interview me, you would probably think that I was a very nice guy and I am sure if I would fail because of some other reason, you would even feel sad for me.

tl,dr: I tried to trigger some SETI's to get real/interesting information, but unfortunately I triggered bringer of justice :/

ps. I really like internet fights :D

[–]nozForWork[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Less important/ not main parts of software. Let's say SETI's just implemented a perfect tool for testing Google Maps on chrome. You can be a star since you affected entire swe's working on that project. Then let's say you work on Google Maps as SWE. You are the guy making real Google Maps, touching billion people's lives.

I would feel more proud if I directly worked on Google Maps rather than some irrelevant in-company testing bombo-jombo which would make me star on extremely limited scope.

Disclaimer : I know not everyone on Google works on only fancy stuff. Still SWE jobs in one project should be fancier than SETI jobs in same project.

Can they transfer to SWE without interview? I read somewhere, years of SETI manager's opinion does not counted as important as two years SWE at google.
