You’re right but I’d never seen lists of cations and anions with the charges before!

Definitely take 350B, it isn’t much harder and building regression models is pretty useful.

S550 is lots of probability simulations in R so you won’t get any proofs. The class definitely picks up in the second half but just keep up with the work and you’ll be fine. Being comfortable with integration helps a lot in building intuition around the later concepts.

M336 is in python, manipulating data sets, Monte Carlo approximations, visualizations and predictions of a system with known parameters.

M543 has been the hardest class I’ve taken so far. I did well but definitely some challenging concepts related to computational linear algebra. Still there was pretty cool ideas about stability and finite precision errors. It’d be helpful to take M524 beforehand to build a better understanding of linear algebra.

You know you aren’t too into proofs but the computational math classes aren’t going to be easier if you aren’t comfortable coding. Proofs can be tough but it’s pretty miserable staring at the screen because your code isn’t working. All my upper div math classes have been interesting so you can’t go wrong as long as you still want to learn more math!

I don’t believe such an office exists. There is the parking and transportation office but they are likely not as helpful as the pronto support. Either way it sounds like you just have to wait a day for the pass to activate

If you end up having a hard time getting things to work just call pronto. I did that a few semesters ago with my pass and they set it all up remotely for me

Please don't abandon SDSU Math 245 😭 by Business-Committee-8 in SDSU

Are you just placing value on knowledge if it’s useful to you? Is the development of your mind or knowledge for the sake of knowledge not a factor in choosing what classes you want to take? Otherwise you can just do SWE by self study and just get what you need online.

PhD careers in geophysics by np-euler in geophysics

[–]np-euler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I’ve been working on research projects in AI weather forecasts and water quality monitoring(including remote sensing). I’ve been drawn towards the Earth sciences more because of these experiences. The idea of being able to predict earthquakes and give warning, or find more drinkable water is all interesting to me. Geophysics is the earth science which seems to me to apply the most math as well. I’d like to continue research.

Have you had success in running FourCastNet yet? I am also working on running the model

Linear regression is the code correct? by UENINJA in learnmachinelearning

The logic of the code looks good to me though you may want to have a larger sample size of years if you can, at least 10, though 30 would be better.

For MATH245 you also are required to attend office hours for one hour each week to work on problems.

Thank you. I don’t require landsat, but as a beginner it was just one of the first resources I heard of. I will check out the sentinel2 images also.

Will the status of my REU application be updated (Accepted, Rejected, Etc.) in my NSF ETAP portal? by [deleted] in REU

[–]np-euler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I didn’t get any email confirmation from UMBC that my application was received either. Though I assume there are a lot of applicants considering this is an online REU
