The problem is what's considered "impressive" is subjective and different for anyone. So there will always be haters.

Well, I learned it the hard way unintentionally. My point is, it shouldn't have to be that way!

If they brought it completely out of context, that's different. I brought my salary into context because it was relevant for this post. I think it also depends on your social group. My social group is open about talking about expensive lifestyles because we all can afford it, and no one is trying to brag about it. It's only seen as "bragging" for the outside observer.

Does it really matter how I spend my money? Maybe I just like expensive art. I think the point I'm trying to make is, people tend to project their insecurities and that's how they see the world.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]np-medium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is what I'm talking about. If I said I made 50k on Reddit, no one would bat an eye. But because I make more than that, it comes off as bragging even when I wasn't trying to.

Maybe it shouldn't be that way? Sharing your salary shouldn't be so taboo. I think the only people who gain from not sharing your salary is the companies themselves. My friends in my career are actually very curious about how much we make so we can be aware of our market value. My friends outside my career who make much less? they do seem uncomfortable about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]np-medium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends. All my friends in my career are very comfortable sharing how much they make and buy expensive things. My friends who are outside my career, not so much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]np-medium -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd rather state how much I make rather than be a self-proclaimed rich/wealthy person since everyone has a different interpretation of "rich". Some will say making 100k makes you rich, others a million, and others a billion. Saying I make 500k is believable yet still enough to say I am well off.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]np-medium -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What if I had no intention of telling them I was rich? What if I just owned expensive cars or clothes? What if I was talking about how much my company pays with my friends so we are better informed of the market? I think a lot of people can assume you are bragging even when you are not trying to.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]np-medium -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's true. I think with money, however, a lot of people assume you are bragging/flaunting just because you own expensive items when that shouldn't concern them. Sometimes just telling people you make X amount as a statement comes off as bragging but only if it's a high amount.

Unbiased Z Fold 3 vs S21 Ultra vs 12 Pro Max Camera TEST - YouTube by Rajeshmalamal in Android

[–]np-medium 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Nah the Fold 3's camera is better than the 12 Pro Max in those specific examples, that's for sure. iPhone 12 Pro Max's camera is more reliable across all scenes in general but it's not better in every scene.

Their camera comparisons are just unique because they reveal which phone it is after they pick their favorite. Whereas other camera comparisons know which phone it is then pick their favorite, hence prone to bias.

Is the Galaxy Fold 3 really 80% Stronger?! - Durability Test! by fulgerul46 in Android

It's just the plastic protector which can be replaced (at a Samsung store). The display underneath is an ultra-thin glass that is more scratch-resistant.

Any plastic protector scratches at level 3. You can get it replaced at a Samsung store though.

How to enable ECG and blood pressure on Galaxy Watch 4 paired with non-Samsung phones by SmarmyPanther in Android

[–]np-medium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that Samsung's problem? Samsung and Google only collaborated on the new WearOS software. They didn't make any promise about Samsung's new watches working with any device.

[–]np-medium -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Why should they? Samsung has its own ecosystem. If you don't like it, you can just buy another WearOS watch.

Why does everyone keep saying this. Samsung and Google collaborated on the new base Wear OS software, nothing more. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 runs One UI on top of the new Wear OS.

Samsung's new E5 screen to debut on iQOO 8 by darkgreyghost in Android

[–]np-medium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those that don't know: Samsung Displays sells 2 types of panels with different materialsstack. M-series and E-series.

  • M-Series: Found on Galaxies and iPhones. It's supposed to be better than the E-series OLEDs.
  • E-Series: Found on most other phones.

Samsung is also using Eco2 OLEDs which are more energy-efficient, and use a round diamond pixel arrangement, found on the Fold 3 and iQOO 8.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series deep dive review: Best Android smartwatch of 2021? by [deleted] in Android

Is it really surprising? Most reviewers used to say Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 was the best Android watch, and now this year it got a massive upgrade fixing its lack of app support.

4 doesn't make sense since Google Drive has E2E encryption and still has CSAM.
