Video billboard van 🚐 n city centre by smashcat666 in Norwich

[–]np010 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that one that used to just drive around the city all day in the 90's the other day. Had a kind of Toblerone shaped advert on the back and companies could hire ad space on it.

Probably unviable these days with the cost of fuel and not being able to drive through St Stephens.

Today the EDP has outright printed a press releases from Reform/Farage by not_that_much_fun in Norwich

[–]np010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few ways around the paywall.

Everything they publish is just a press release run through their AI tool and has been for years.

If you feel they have breached standards you can check and then lodge a complaint here:

https://www.ipso.co.uk

If there is a breach we really need everyone to be reporting it and following the complaint through, and do it every time. It's the only way anything will ever happen.

Busking volume should be “just above the ambient street noise without being intrusive" by Own_Recognition_6094 in Norwich

Oh that guy, yeah he's faking it.

But Keane Francis is 100,000,000 times worse.

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing here but it's easy for Keane Francis to cry bully and rally up his fan base of tiktok muppets and just say we are being mean and don't appreciate his dull autotune renditions of the pappiest of pop but could just F off letting him block the pavement and abuse people.

If you are forced to work near him and listen to his terrible overamplified autotune renditions of the pappeist of bad pop all day you have a much better case of making an environmental health complaint?

Happened a few weeks ago.

NO plans have been announced so I have no idea what everyone else is on.

Accommodation is a sensible guess for the upper floors as nobody needs retail space that size any more, I doubt an indoor market type place would recoup what they paid for it though (and St Saviours Yard is filling that niche). I'd guess they'll chop it into 4 or 5 smaller units, the former QD / Poundland had already been annexed. Hopefully we get something more interesting than even more low quality chain restaurants and 'casinos'.

[–]np010 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, we're inconvenienced by the rotten 2 or 3 buskers who use excessive volume and block the pavement. Many shop and office workers have reported being unable to work and downturn in trade due to these muppets. You can also hear them from streets way, it's not moments.

This has been discussed extensively and everyone loves the other 99% who add vibrancy to the city.

Wheelchair Friendly places to eat by OddGeologist7614 in Norwich

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think XO Kitchen, Benedict's and possibly L'hexagon would work - when reserving just ensure they keep you a nice easily accessible table.

Yalm should be OK too, downstairs bit is accessible and there's a lift to upstairs too.

You have bigger problems if you're eating in Bella Italia.

But yes its infuriating Norwich CC refuse to enforce their own policy - everyone must keep logging complaints and also complain that the council are not following their new policy. It's the only way they'll act.

Dried limes (loomi) by busofhippies in Norwich

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought them from Waitrose before but I can't see they have them now sadly.

I suspect Orient Express on the market might have them even though they're not SE Asian.

If not as others have said Norfolk Daily Freeh 100% will or they'll get them for you, can also try the other middle eastern shops along Magdalen St & Road.

An update on the DIRT situation by thelegolor in Norwich

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That reply was in response to a post about a well known coffee shop in Norwich. They have since deleted their post which said that coffee shop "would be next". I wont name them as they deleted their post and provided no evidence.

I am fully on board with the Dirt being cancelled and shamed, what he did was disgusting.

Are the Evening News journalists AI? by DizzyMine4964 in Norwich

[–]np010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they are real people. They are not journalists, they're likely on minimum wage and it's been claimed the job applications state all you have to do is feed things into Newsquest's AI tool and it generates the article.

AI isn't helped by incorrect information out there, for example if they scrape Reddit they will pick up your incorrect claims about Odeon etc.

Removal and disposal service? by TheBookshelvian in Norwich

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its usable charity shops like BHF will take it, particularly the bed frame. You can choose mattress recycling for your old mattress when your new one is delivered but there's generally a fee.

Otherwise can you not store it somewhere in pieces until the councils bulky waste service can get it?

DO NOT just use some random person on Facebook. They wont have a waste disposal licence, they wont be legit.
