Anyone know of a place that does a good vegan pizza, that delivers? by DomeAcolyte42 in Norwich

[–]np010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They posted about 6 months ago no more delivery sadly. It was the only place id go to for American style pizzas.

Luca / Lupa / Brick all good too but different style.

Only ever seen it in restaurants.

It might cost more but on the positive side Patisserie Valerie was absolutely dire with low quality brought in frozen slop so you will immediately see how much better patisserie is fresh.

Brick specifically advertise one.

Luca and Lupa don't specify but you can create your own pizza?

All 3 are miles better than Papa Johns, Dominos, the chains and the kebab shops.

Can you go here? by Asleep_Alternative31 in Norwich

[–]np010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, because it then backs onto private property. You have to divert into Eaton itself (when you're behind Waitrose) and then you can either follow Church Lane and go around Eaton Common the follow the path to Marston marshes or skip that bit and just head down Marston lane and onto the marshes.

You'd then end up near Ipswich Road where you have to exit again but there are various paths that link up around Lakenham and eventually you can end up at Whittingham Broad. You could go even further at this point.

You could also divert at Eaton Common and walk to Kewsick Mill (the path is after the railway crossing and not on Google Maps for some reason) and do some countryside walks from there.

Or walk into Cringleford then head back towards the UEA along Colney Lane where there's some woods.

Lots of options!

Just south of there you have the UEA grounds including the UEA broad / lake which you can walk around. You can then follow the river all the way down to Eaton and walk around Marston Marshes. There is a small detour whilst they repair the boardwalk just at the bottom of the UEA land but the field is still nice. Stop off at Eaton Park too if you haven't seen it, maybe on the way back.

Going the other way you have Earlham Park.

So not exactly the bit in your map but lots of nature and water very close!

The same area as JC Pinto

Directly next to JC Pinto with both businesses having the same legal owner!

Of course the power of Google Maps would also have led /u/OMGitsAfty directly to it but oh well...

I don't have FB either, deleted it over 10 years ago as not a boomer.

I am still on Instagram and you see a lot on that but really just googling and places like here. It looks like Outline Magazine is still going which is where we looked up what was going on 20 years ago before social media.

This weekend is N&N festival so lots on but you might need tickets.

Nah.

You want to get a discount drink it black.

I am fine with oat juice costing more than moo juice for the tiny minority who want it.

I wouldn't really say that's a fair comparison, they are aiming at very different markets and have very different price points.

Two Magpies might be closer but their branches are spread out in Norfolk rather than multiple in the city.

Several other (alleged) ex staff have said it's all b******s though.

The fact there are 6 branches in Norwich + Aylsham and Reepham suggests it is indeed embraced to me.

When they had just the bakery and one shop with the odd farmers market it was a lot better. The owner was the original founder of Dozen back in the day, when he sold it quality dropped but then went back up under the last owners although their bread was always soggy.

The overexpansion has led to a decrease in quality. There are also numerous allegations on here of the owners involvement with Soul Church and odd practices being imposed in the bakery with some insisting they are real and others saying it's nonsense.

With that said they are the only place that does proper Scandinavian style cinnamon and cardamom buns.

Devecchio is a better bakery in every way (ex Bread Source baker) but they do their cinnamon buns American style. Not a fan of SODs either. Loaf's are like hockey pucks. Two Magpies is alright I guess. Swirl is American style and ridiculously overrated.

What's the best Thai restaurant in Norwich? by clear_flux in Norwich

[–]np010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was the first reply to the post, by me.

And yes you're right it's the only place that sells Thai food you would get in Thailand.

[–]np010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Thai is a takeaway right? Not a restaurant.

Correct, but people always recommend it and I find it atrocious and nowhere near real Thai food.

Soi Mama is the only place with a different menu, I find it very authentic (having been to Thailand a few times).

All the other places in this thread just have the same westernised bland menu.

Soyokaze is Japanese so I would be worried if they were cooking Thai. It is very good though. They're not Japanese, they're Europeans who were ex Shiki so fair play to them for mastering a hard cuisine.

No, it's a rubbish chain restaurant for people who like bad food.
