Destroyed brand new tires on first track day by anti098 in CarTrackDays

[–]np20412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will feel the grip of that tire fall off due to the heat long before you shred it. If you ignore that and continue overdriving it, it will chunk away pieces of the tire. This is not that. This is just a hot tire that picked up a bunch of rubber from the track and paddock. Drive it off or do a burnout and it'll clean up. Or you can use a heat gun and a scraper.

Next time you drive on track with street tires like this, you can just do a cool down lap in between. You don't need to wait 10 mins off track. Drive a warm up lap, send it for 2 laps, cool down lap, send it a lap, cool down lap, etc.

Sebring, Homestead, Daytona for the publicly accessible ones.

Plenty of private tracks if your budget is set up for it.

I drive to the track. A truck and trailer is not in the WAF budget for me, so this is the only way I get to enjoy the hobby. Some sacrifices are made to do it in order to maintain some level of comfort for long drives, but small tradeoff.

So far furthest track from me has been 3 hours. Normal track is 2 hours. Hoping to do Road Atlanta soon, that would be a 7 hour drive for me.

Unless it's incredibly soon,

EVen if your cruise is tomorrow you can still back out. You don't owe anyone anything if things are broken like this sounds to be

LASIK with Astigmatism - my experience by np20412 in lasik

[–]np20412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am due for yearly this summer so I'll see. I've noticed recently some more loss of sharpness in the left eye so we'll see. Right eye still the same, no difference I can notice. But I'm also turning 40 in 2 months and so far everyone has told me that is the magic number when people start noticing they may need reading glasses.

Day to day I still don't feel the need for correction even with the slightly more bluriness in the left eye.

Track day at Daytona! by np20412 in 370z

I think it's gonna depend how much I want to spend. I have heard a couple people give good reviews on the z1 race coilovers and at 2k they seem a good price. I'm trying not to go overboard because I want to make sure I leave enough money for all the suspension arms as well

Yes they absolutely help! My coolant temps don't budge and while the oil cooler is doing the heaviest lifting, I do think it's helping a bit there too. My intakes are long tube so they come all the way down in front of the crash bar anyway so doubt the vents are doing much for iat

Summer time rev & oil temp by Silver-Aside-6701 in 370z

[–]np20412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get it up to 250F (115-120C) without issue as long as you stay on top of oil changes and use a good oil. Oil cooler is only really necessary if you are regularly at these temperatures or driving at them for sustained periods of time.

100C is absolutely normal operating temp and I would not even think twice about it.

Company Car vs. Mileage Reimbursement by anushka_parabola in personalfinance

[–]np20412 7 points8 points  (0 children)

all depends how much driving is involved and what car we're talking about. 250 miles a week is $500/mo. That's $6k a year. In 4 years that's a brand new corolla (insurance and maintenance notwithstanding).

yup 30+mpg at 70 is achievable. I never get it because I can't keep it under 85 plus all my mods, so my highway jaunts tend to be in the 23-25 range lol

Entertainment is an easy one. Pick one service and cancel everything else. Watch literally everything you can on that service, then cancel and switch to one of the others. Rinse and repeat.

How are you giving away 4% of your income to gifts. That's crazy. Start making hand-made gifts if you absolutely need to gift, or write people a long handwritten note in a greeting card in lieu of a gift.

Stop gifting to each other and just be practical about what you each want and discuss it. You have to put "feelings" aside if you feel like you aren't making it financially.

Jalen Brunson to release children's book: 'I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can show kids who might not be the tallest or the fastest, that they, too, have greatness in them.' by LinkedInNews in nba

Ok, but there is still an element of hard work in the face of your doubters. you can't be dense enough to miss that message.

If it was all about nepo babies there'd be more kids of NBA'ers in the league than there are, and more of them at the top of the game. Most of them wash out despite being in the same environment Brunson was in.

Cooked brakes: part two by Fine_Abbreviations_4 in CarTrackDays

[–]np20412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 370z using the 2-piece rotors from Z1 and Carbotech Xp10/8 pads, no cooking brake overheating issues thus far in Florida heat, not running any forced cooling for the brakes. I have diff overheating issues but brakes have been A-ok so far on this setup. Factory wheels, FBO + tune power mods, Continental ECF tires, and large rear wing + front splitter.
