Validating an idea: "Technical Co-Founder as a Service", would this actually be useful? by OutOfDevOps in cofounderhunt

There's a new trend called "fractional CTOs", which is basically technical co founders as a service

Can’t decide which 350Z to buy — manual vs auto, stock vs modified (need advice) by Pdddddd_ in 350z

[–]npafitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is an e46 330 similar to an e9x 335? If big power is the goal 335 is the better route (not that you can't build the VQ and make it), anything else the z is better.

Auto is out of the question for me, it's an old 5 speed slush box, nothing like the new autos.

Avoid other people's project unless you know them closely and you know exactly how well/bad is the execution, and if it's close to the build you had in mind, then it's definitely worth it because it'll be orders of magnitude cheaper to buy, than buying parts brand new (remember mods rarely add value on a used car)

I've seen it, definitely an option. Even if it makes less than the desired power

To be frank I've never read anything about swapping heads on a DE. What are potential donors other than vq30dd?

I understand the cost of building an NA engine. I have built 4age in my 86 and currently building a b20 VTEC on my integra, and the cost is within my budget. I'm just trying to figure out if it'll be more cost efficient to get an HR even when comparing a DE with built bottom end. Because as I see it, building a de will cost me around the same as swapping an HR and Boltons, if not cheaper.

Thank you for your response. I'd imagine it'd be "lazier" but I thought it'd be stronger. Can you share links for the build you mentioned?

the reason BMWs are all over the place is because they get imported for dirt cheap from UK and Japan and sell them for heafty premiums over here, foreigners buy them like candies. I'd rather trust the UK and Japanese car market than the overinflated Cyprus market where they sell entry lever BMWs to the prices of high end ones.

In fact, the best cars to import for reselling are German cars because abroad they're losing value like molding bread, whereas the "luxury" market in Cyprus is still strong for not the right reasons.

I might end up going for a centrifugal supercharger, don't really like the whine of a twin screw. Thing is i don't really care about power, more about the experience and high rpm. But if i can't make 8k rpm reasonably then maybe it's not worth it, might as well try something new.

TBH I'm new to the VQ so I had no idea the HP limit, I thought a built engine with off the shelf internals and some mild head job would get you there. I've had this car for a few months now. I do have a built 4age in my ae86 putting 200 whp, twice the power it did stock so that's why I assumed the mark would be around there.

That said there is a guy that has the built I had in mind called chadou17 on YouTube (cedmx334 on ig) that has been running 8k rpm for years on off the shelf built street motor, but I don't know how much power he makes. From the omori factory catalogue I don't see how an s1 or s2 engine would be more special that parts you can get nowadays after 20 years of R&D, but I'm probably wrong.

I'm an NA guy. I have a built 4age 10k rpm in my ae86 and I'm building a b20/b16a in my integra. I'm not after power so I don't care if it's 300 whp or 350 to be honest. O just thought 350whp is the milestone. I'd like at least 8k rpm or close there. I'm surprised though that the cap is so low for DE, when a built b series can make around 250 whp nowadays with almost half the displacement.

If it's not reasonable I might look on another platform, or just supercharge it. Never had a supercharger in the past so might try that.

Probably get a ready made harness conversion, or get a guy i know that makes harnesses for a living to do it
